    New, confused, worried and terrified!

@woppit_95 don't stress as this will cause you sugars to spike. I'm overweight and I have found that drinking loads of water is helping, and a 10 - 15 min walk every few days is also useful. I know it feels like the end if the world as I was a chocoholic, but this site, these people are amazing...

    Readings at diagnosis

I was recovering from a cold so I had been drinking lots of fluids (juices) and urinating. Something just clicked in my head one day and I asked a friend who had a glucose meter if I could test. My sugar was 21.8. I called and arranged an appointment for a Hb1Ac. Which came back with a 98 (15.1).

Hi and welcome - without this forum I would have been lost. My GP gave me no info and I was left to research by myself. Laughed at for wanting test strips

I was told same thing that as a type 2 no need to test. I told my nurse I would like one in order to keep a record of my own. Luckily she contacted Diabetes Nurse in the area that saw me today and said the same thing but gave me a monitor and a few lancets and strips. How is anybody suppose to...

Glad to hear Some1 else with high ketone at time of diagnoses. My nurse has had me in a ball of nerves as being diagnosed by the Dr as type 2, the nurse thinks I might be type 1, due to the high ketones and "sudden onset"
