Type 2 but love eating loads of chocolate

I was diagnosed as type 2 on 15th May 2015, with a BG level of 22.7 and an Hba1c of 105. I was 21 1/2 stone and feeling terrible. 3 months later, my BG averages out at 6 and my Hb1c was 41. I had lost 30lbs, and was feeling so much better The difference? No chocolate, sugar, coca-cola and...

What rise is acceptable 2 hours after eating?

I find it weird that certain foods work for some people and others they do not. For example I can eat an apple and banana( one after the other)then after 2 hours my BG is fine. Others could not. I can also tolerate some porridge(30g), wholemeal pasta (50g) and potatoes (100g) Maybe I am...

    Possible Hypo?

They have been very good if I am honest. I am using the SD codefree, which gives you a 7 day, 14 day and 28 day average. My 7 day average is 5.8 and my 14 day average is 6.8. I am not had a hypo symptom in a week or so. I do sometimes get a very sore head, although when I check my levels...

    Breakfast ideas?

Pre diagnosis I baked my own bread, but kept it fairly simple (Flour, Honey, Salt, Flour, Water, Milk and yeast) but it is full of carbs, tasted great though When you are buying the ingredients for your bread, where is the best place, specifically 115g (4oz) wheat gluten powder (vital wheat...

What rise is acceptable 2 hours after eating?

Thanks for the reply. A rise of 2 makes perfect sense. And gives me a good basis to work forward on. I am already working out what works and what doesn't. Sadly most of the things i normally eat are a no, even in small quantities, but it something i need to know and get used too.

    Breakfast ideas?

I have always suffered with breakfasts. I am such a fussy eater, I usually just settled for the healthiest, thing i could stomach. This used to be Bran Flakes, but they spike me too much so are out. I have only been diagnosed for two weeks, so still steeply on a learning curve I don't like...

    Possible Hypo?

Couldn't resist a quick look at reactive hypoglycemia, and that seems to fit the bill. As i started testing, i thought it was a good idea to test my normal cereal. But after a number of days low carbing, i think it must have been a shock to my system to have that amount of carbs so early...

12 days in, I think I am doing well!

On the whole feeling good. Less lethargic than I was pre diagnosis, no real aches or pains. I have been having a little bit of blurred vision, affecting my short distances since i started to low carb. My eyesight is usually perfect, so a little disconcerting, but I saw the doc and she said...

You can get reduced salt and sugar HP. Tastes a smidge different, and slightly lighter in colour, but virtually the same

The marinade was fairly simple. 40ml ketchup 20ml hp sauce 2g hot chilli powder 1.5g salt 1.5g black pepper Garlic 30g olive oil That amount covered 8 thighs. 41 calories 1.7g carbs per thigh Tasted amazing as well

I made a shepherds pie with cauliflower mash the other night, which had 374 calories and 21.5g of carbs per portion. That is low compared to my pre diabetic recipe which has 578 calories and 67.1g carbs per portion (The only difference is the substitution of spuds for cauliflower) I would...
