    Another Newbie

Welcome, niblue! I was diagnosed 7 years ago in in 2016 (will be 75 in June) and started the journey of discovery and T2 education. My blood tests at that time were similar but much better now (HbA1C staying around 6.7). Also a family inheritance (thanks, Mom!) going back at least 3...

    Linfagilin

My doctor just added Linagliptin to my daily Jardiance (Empagliflozin). After reading up on it, I am concerned about increased muscle pain that seems to be a common side-effect. I have both Rheumatoid and Osteo Arthritis resulting from a lower back and neck injury (from 54 yrs ago) and this led...

FreeStyle Libre - left or right arm?

Thanks for the comments! After using the sensors for a while now it boils down to application more than location. The more flab the better. I am far from overweight so not as easy to locate as some :) Works well on both arms but there is a slight difference in readings between left and right.

    Pain With FreeStyle Libre 2

I don't think it has anything to do with Libre 1 or 2 as the sensors are basically the same in construction and size. I had an arm pain once and it was because of placement. Just make sure it is applied to a flabby part of your arm and not into a muscular area. I know that can be hard to do at...

    Quandary

Personally, I opted to continue self-funding my Libre. The convenience, time-saving, and ability to take multiple readings, are all benefits well worth it if the user can afford the cost. I was horrible at taking the time and remembering to use the traditional finger-pricking process. There...

FreeStyle Libre - left or right arm?

Has anybody else had issues with using left or right arm using the FreeStyle Libre? 1. I seem to have occasional arm pain when using my left arm. Not every application but most, and no pain on my right arm. 2. Readings in my left arm are usually a bit higher than my right arm. I am right...

    Pain With FreeStyle Libre 2

Wow! That is nasty bruising! I sometimes have pain, left arm only, and I try to avoid applying too close to muscle tissue and aim for the "flab" LOL. I have found that losing weight, and I wasn't really overweight to start with at 6ft (1.8m) tall dropping from 210 lbs to 155 lbs (95kg-70kg) left...

    Cholesterol and Statins

Thanks to all who have rebutted the use of Statins and "Why". The purpose of being a Devil's Advocate is to stimulate a conversation, whether via thorough fact-based research or due to personal opinions based on "whatever". Personally I had quit using statins twice of the past 8-10 years...

    Cholesterol and Statins

While I am not totally familiar with the system in the UK, it is mostly similar to Canada ... same as Australia (I have a brother that lives there). We each have some variances but basically a "free" healthcare system with some differences. As I have been on this forum for some time now I have...

    Cholesterol and Statins

I do not understand the "financial incentive" part of your comment. Cost in Canada, in Ontario, for 90 Rosuvastatin 10 mg is only $13.16 plus a small dispensing fee ... and that is a 3 month supply. Where would there be any financial incentive for the Endocrinologist and my GP that I am a...

    Cholesterol and Statins

Playing Devil's Advocate: Besides the possible psychological affect of using statins (thinking that you can eat anything and it won't raise your cholesterol levels - despite many studies and research that contradicts or challenges the affects of cholesterol on the heart and the use of...

    Freestyle Libre on prescription

Perfect! I love the FGM. The best way to go for T1-T2 and personal monitoring. I finger prick test occasionally just to validate the FGM (FreeStyle Libre) readings. Note: One thing I have noticed is that if it reads as being low (3 or 4), do a finger prick blood test to double-check. The FGM...

Approved Type 2 Questionnaire: can you help please?

Done. Enjoyable refresher and awareness exercise.

    Freestyle Libre on prescription

I think the insulin requirement is still there but a prescription from a cooperating doctor cuts through the red tape. I am also covered up to 80%, if need be, from our company health plan. I thought that was the route I would have to take so I was surprised when I picked up my FreeStyle Libre...

    Freestyle Libre on prescription

I am Type 2 and have always been horrible at taking consistent readings with traditional finger pricking. It doesn't bother me but due to being busy with work (working from home you tend to work too much) I rarely do it, and I simply cannot test when I should and as much as I should so the...

    Cbd Oil

My 1st post in this thread was 3 years ago and I have some comments based on my experience. 1st ... no effect on BG levels except they might go up if you give in to the hunger that a CBD/THC combo will give you ... and that drive to eat can be strong - so beware. 2nd ... If a CBD/THC combo is...

    Levels and COVID-19 vaccination

A follow-up to my 1st shot in May and then asking in June about the 2nd shot after I had AstraZeneca for my 1st shot. My 2nd Covid vaccine shot was Pfizer in July and, except for the typical soreness at the point of injection, no changes in my levels and no reactions. End of this week I go for...
