I said that I get a high reading and a low reading almost every day... I have several highs and lows during the week.

Since I've been diagnosed about 4 months ago, I don't recall ever having a single full week WITHOUT highs and lows. Every day, or every other day, there is at least one reading that is above target. Every day, or every other day, there is at least one reading that is below target as well... I'm...

I have no interest in LCHF, and I doubt I ever will. It is impractical, unrealistic and unsustainable for me... not to mention depressing. I'd rather inject all of my insulin at once and die if there is no other way for me to manage this disease. They would not do that. I would not put that...

I'm from Trinidad and Tobago... I guess I'm going to have to ask the doctor about a different brand at my next appointment. I've only been diagnosed a few months ago, so I'm pretty inexperienced in all of this, and I am not all that aware of the way things are with respect to insulin supplies in...

I was thinking the same thing, actually... not just refugees, but persons living in poverty-stricken and/or war-torn areas. I could have just as easily ended up being born in one of those places, instead of in Trinidad, but luckily I wasn't... and that's the thought that bothers me the most, I...

Thank you... this disease has been getting me down a bit, and I've only had it for a few months. I've been noticing these days whenever I would go to the hospital pharmacy to pick up new insulin, they're fresh out. I would try other public centres, and either they don't supply the brand of...

Unopened insulin left out of refrigerator...

I would estimate that in the evenings, temperatures are usually somewhere between 28-30C. Temperatures would be slightly higher closer to midday - like around 31/32C... and at night/early morning it's nearer to 25/26C.

Lately, I've been on the verge of giving up. Maybe I shouldn't be alive anyway. If it weren't for modern medicine, I wouldn't be. My body has proven itself to be a failure. If things were to go really bad in my country, and the insulin supply were to run out, I would be in deep dookie... The sad...

Unopened insulin left out of refrigerator...

You misread my post. It is possible for somebody to be frustrated about their current situation, and express that frustration, without "having a go" at someone. The insulin that I'm currently using has been lying around in my room for well over a week and it works just fine. And my room relies...

I am not shooting the messenger, and I am not sure why you would think that. I already read the leaflet. I seek other information, preferably first-hand experiences with such a situation.

Unopened insulin left out of refrigerator...

Is there anyone here who actually left out their unopened insulin for a few hours? Assuming that it wasn't thrown out, was there any notable difference in the way it worked when you finally started using it?

Unopened insulin left out of refrigerator...

Well I'm afraid I can't afford to go along with those guidelines... I will have to leave things the way they are and hope for the best. I won't be able to use up those two vials within four weeks, and it's ridiculous that just because they were out of the refrigerator for a few hours, I now only...

Unopened insulin left out of refrigerator...

Regardless of whether it was opened or not? The vials are unopened - the boxes haven't even been opened yet. What about the length of time that it was unrefrigerated? Would that not matter? I will not be using one of those unopened vials until the next month... and the other one won't be used...

Unopened insulin left out of refrigerator...

I bought two brand new vials of Humulin R on Friday afternoon, and forgot to put it in the refrigerator right away... so they ended up lying in a paper bag on my bed (away from direct sunlight, though) until Saturday morning, a few hours before dawn. When I realized what I had done, I...

    Depression hyperglycemia

I get depressed often, so I don't really notice a particular link between my feelings of depression and hyperglycemia. However, I have felt moody, irritable and even tearful while experiencing hypoglycemia.

    Type 1 Help Please

I agree that the hypo treatment was probably a bit overdone... Even though your husband wasn't feeling it, the glucojel was probably working, or was probably taking a bit longer than expected, so adding the Lucozade to the mix probably wasn't necessary. The recommendation is to test your blood...

self-harming by overeating high carb food or sugar

I have fallen off the wagon a few times already, and it's only been a month... one time was at a small social gathering. I've also been experimenting a bit with different foods, as well as matching my insulin to my meals - basically trying to figure out different ways to enjoy my treats without...

    Readings at diagnosis

Mine was 24... I found out I was diabetic when I ended up in the hospital for DKA, and a blood test later confirmed that it was T1.

    Hot Weather and Hypoglycaemia

Thanks... I suspected that there was a relationship between hot weather and blood sugar levels. I don't bother adjusting my dose for "hot days" because where I live, the days are generally hot anyway.
