Is there anywhere you can't bear to inject?

Just curious! I've always used tummy and thighs. I don't know why I hate the thought of injecting into my bum (although there's plenty of fat there hahaha) and I'd never even consider my arms! Makes me shudder.

    Funny situations and diabetes

FANTASTIC choice, Blood Sugar Sex Magic and Stadium Arcadium are my favourite Chili Peppers albums - and RHCP are my favourite band! Huge fan Funniest thing off the top of my head was in sixth form a few years ago. I wasn't feeling well and just sort of signalled to my maths tutor that I was...

What do you dislike most about diabetes? Is there anything you like?

Every time something bad happens, throughout my entire life my mum has always told me 'something good comes out of everything bad'. It's hard to believe but it really is true. It might not be something big but there's always something. I wish everybody was brought up believing that, there would...

    High Blood Sugar Levels

Further to that, since your body is used to running at a higher level, if you suddenly drop your levels to a normal range you'll be experiencing hypo symptoms even though you won't technically be hypoglycemic. They have to come down slowly over a period of time

    High Blood Sugar Levels

Since you're very recently diagnosed you'll most likely still be making some of your own insulin. Therefore if you take a big dose and your body decides to kick into action too, it could be really dangerous! Absolutely nobody is expecting you to be within range so soon, it will take a while, and...

Type 1 - Is it genetic?

Nobody in my entire family had diabetes before me. I was 12 when I was diagnosed with type 1. 4 years later my brother was diagnosed aged 13. Perhaps it's recessive?

What do you dislike most about diabetes? Is there anything you like?

I am exactly the same! When I see people drinking coke I just think to myself, I wonder if they know how much sugar and calories are in that! Makes me shudder.

What do you dislike most about diabetes? Is there anything you like?

I'm super aware of healthy eating and that's thanks to my diabetes. It taught me from a young age what an awful impact bad food can have on the body, and that's also influenced the people around me. When I met my boyfriend he was so unhealthy, lived on frozen chicken burgers and garlic bread and...

    Newly diagnosed. Type 2.

What type? I'm type 1 and have the same problem if I don't eat in the morning. Doctor told me, if you don't eat in the morning your liver pumps a bit of sugar into your blood to keep you going. If you haven't eaten in over 12 hours it may be that?

Help! In the last 3 days I've had to increase insulin

How long have you been diabetic? If you're fairly new to it your honeymoon period could be ending (final islet cells dying off)

    Type one support

Hi Mel :) I'm Beth, I'm 19, and I was diagnosed when I was 12. Nobody that I know of in my entire family history had type 1 diabetes. So I understand the lonely feeling. As much as people care and try hard to understand, they can't, because they're just not experiencing it. They can see it...

Would you take a cure if it became available? Curious?

I've always thought of it this way: I've been diabetic for just under 7 years. When I was first diagnosed, it was absolute hell. Now, I'm fine. I'm used to my diabetes and yeah it's a pain but I can deal with it without too much of a fuss. If they find a cure, I'm gonna assume there will be a...
