I've never been there. But, according to the study, 'Tibetans are an ethnic group with a unique lifestyle characterized by a special local diet of tsampa, butter tea, beef, and mutton, which contain high salts and cholesterols; moreover, the majority of Tibetans reside at high altitudes.' So...

Let's keep it on this one, it'll no doubt help the op.

What is the best statin to take with type 2

Yes, saturated fat does me as well. And I'll avoid processed meat like the plaque. Maybe it'll improve your cholesterol as well?

What is the expected blood sugar reading if a diabetic uses a severe Atkins diet?

I would guess the op is, why did you bring it 40 up as a problem, if it's your personal target as well?

What is the expected blood sugar reading if a diabetic uses a severe Atkins diet?

40 is actually 5.8%, and the tolerance, and personal hemoglobin means you could actually be over, so you may need to re-assess your own targets. Who knows, the op may actually have better control than yourself.

What is the best statin to take with type 2

What sort of fat do you eat? I find saturated fat raises my cholesterol badly, particularly the LD, which contributes overall, possibly that is why yours, like mine, is high on that diet. I tend to look at the breakdown, and try to keep all figures in the 'classic' ranges. But some believe high...

What is the expected blood sugar reading if a diabetic uses a severe Atkins diet?

Below 6 is normal, why would you be disappointed with a normal response? http://www.diabetes.co.uk/what-is-hba1c.html

What is the best statin to take with type 2

I researched it, and actually found 20mg Atorvastatin worked well, with no side effects. If there a reason why you would prefer a different one? But, the best one for me, was simply to cut out dairy, fatty red meats, basically all saturated fats. Good quality none saturated fats are the way to...

    Diet control

You need to see your doctor. They have a lifetime of experience, and they will give you the tools you need to bring your BG down. After that breathing space, you can decide what suits you, but initially, seek qualified advice. I started on meds, but reduced them with the agreement of my HCP...

    The Results Are In!!

'But not all anemias will lower HbA1c levels. Both iron deficiency anemia and pernicious anemias, for example, are associated with a longer RBC survival, which is associated with an increase in HbA1c levels' I can only read that one way. I guess you read it differently.

    The Results Are In!!

No, anemia is low red blood cell count. Depending on what has caused the low red blood cell count, (anemia), as the reference will explain, it can be artificially high or low.

    Obesity Is Not Your Fault!

And the reverse as we often see. 'I can't lose weight, any diet puts me into starvation mode/thrifty gene/yoyo dieting etc, so nobody should' It's very true though, I'm in the second group, and we should always remember we are individual, and for some it'll work very well to simply lose weight.

Eating High Carb Low Fat, an alternative?

I'm sure we'll all be wishing you well, and will be interested to see what your levels will be like after a few months of your diet, and when things have stabilised.

    Obesity Is Not Your Fault!

It's unfortunate at least. But, and a big but. You will never stop them getting diabetes, or obesity, or both, as you say, it is entirely out of their control. Nothing will change it. But, the majority of type 2 diabetics, by a big majority are obese. And can be helped by curbing overeating. So...

What does the UK leaving the EU mean for us?

If I ring any customer services now, if I get a bloke, I hang up, and redial until a woman answers. And that's based on experience, not prejudice.

    The Results Are In!!

Not true, read http://journals.aace.com/doi/pdf/10.4158/EP161209.CO It varies depending on what causes the anemia. Many will give a low Hba1c.

    The Results Are In!!

That's interesting, as I remember you had at least a steak then, and possibly other sources of saturated fats? So its possible the week of food immediately prior to the review was the heavy influence on your trigs, and LDL after your fast? Even Hendrik seems to be back tracking on high LDL and...
