    Confusing letter

approx 10% of type 1's are GAD antibody negative. Including me! I've been on insulin since diagnosis 9months ago as my own insulin production (c-peptide test) is reducing each time they test. It may be a rare monogenic version or you could just stay type 1 and nothing have to change .

    Lumpy injection sites in toddler

I found a website through diabetes UK that sell little tattoes for rotating injection sites. They do designs for kids too. I'm 28 diagnosed fen this year type 1. I use them as I can never remember and also I'm not yet very confident in injecting in public, so often just do it as quick as I can...

    Post meal spikes.

Like it's already been mentioned it may be due to the type of carb your eating. Eg if a non-diabetic drank lucozade their levels would easily reach 8-10. It's your level after 2hours that matters. If your worried about it in terms of your health then choose lower GI carbs that arnt fast acting.

    Hypo after eating

I'm on twice daily injections so i don't carb count but always ensure there is a good portion of carbs in every meal. I rarely have hypos, but it's done the same thing again today. Injected 10units at 9am, had sandwich, yoghurt and banana for lunch and I still hypo about 3pm.

Just swapped from Gliclazide to Met, feel so ill.

I'm type 1 but they tried me on it at the start to prolong insulin. I couldn't bear the side affects so told my diabetic nurse I'm stopping taking them. She soon took me off them!!

    Sore Fingers!

I do the side of each finger on one hand, the second hand usually recovered by the time it comes round again. I got an adapter that allows you to use anywhere on your palms or forearm, although I've not used it yet. I wouldn't recommend your feet, I'm concerned it may have a negative affect in...

That's awful of the consultant to say that!! I feel I'm quite lucky my nurse and consultant work very closely together on rare cases. They've even done quite a lot of research together. They told me dnt worry too much on not knowing what type it is, some ppl can take years to be diagnosed esp if...

Newly diagnosed and so so confused

Pan, sorry this is a quick message as in a rush but just read your post. When I was first diagnosed (Feb 2015) my glucose tolerance test also came back Lower. They suggested a type of MODY diabetes where one type typically sees that.

    Newly diagnosed - unknown type

Amy6825 it's nice to know someone else is in the same situation. Seen my specialist nurse last week. She seems to think I'm still in my honeymoon period which is why I'm only needing small amounts of insulin. She is going to chat with my consultant to maybe change my insulin but I haven't heard...

    Newly diagnosed - unknown type

Hi I was diagnosed with diabetes in feb 2015, however, it's not bee very straight forward. We do not know which type and even my consultant is confused with what's going on. Currently they are leaning towards either type 1 with negative antibodies or a kind of MODY. Currently on twice daily...
