    Ketone advice

When I was in hosp this time last year, I had DKA & concurrent infection which needed surgical removal (2 infected abscesses & 2 op's). The Nurses always said that normally there are no ketones in ur blood, and they only panicked if the level was 3 or more. The HCAs always checked my ketones...

    Suffering from depression.

I've been on most antidepressants over the last 20+ years, having to change which one when the current one becomes less effective. I am also on amitriptyline at night, which is used off-license for neuropathy and is a sedating antidepressant. All the advice is saying get out and do stuff cos...

For fibre there are other things you could have....try bulking up on all the other veg u like, plus pulses, nuts (I think) too. As long as you do eat veg you're likely to be ok. There's also fruit for bran But be very careful cos they can put ur bs right up.

    Statins

I've found WebMD useful- it's Boots's. Patient.co.uk have reliable info too. Pharmacist can provide patients with written info on meds and any patients' feedback that they've had.

    Help - have I got Type 2 Diabetes ??

Your GP could offer you a blood test for hba1c, or refer you for an OGTT. These would give a good indication. Maybe ur GP could refer u to a dietitian?

    How quickly life can change....

It sounds like the person has had an horrific time of it. I thought my year had been bad, this situation puts some perspective in it for me. I've had an emergency hosp admission for dka & 2 emergency op's to literally cut out 2 infected abscesses that didn't respond to IV antibiotics. Found I...

What test was used for your diagnosis?

I went to my GP due to feeling incredibly grotty with nothing in particular I could identify. I'd qualified (as a nurse, of all things) and while I'd been fit & healthy during my training, as soon as I'd qualified and got my first job, it was as if I'd been dropped into a vat of treacle up to...

What test was used for your diagnosis?

Souns like you've done really well. I admire you for taking charge of it and not allowing it to control You. I was and am the only type 1 in my family. Mum got type 2 after having Pancreatitis, which damaged it, leaving her with T2. Nobody else in my family with it.
