I've been told to just monitor during training and keep gels on me during event... I no doubt will over compensate and have high bloods at the end.
The Dirty Dozen is like a mini Tough Mudder so it will have the muddy ditches and sheep dip water obstacles, plus the 12ft walls to hop... and alot...
This is my first event... ever... my partner does them so I thought I would try this 12k Dirty Dozen in April. I'm not on a pump, so I've been told to reduce insulin before hand... that's it. No other advise, help, tips etc... I'm learning as I go.
Just spoke with my diabetic nurse... they only offer things if you genuinely ask for them. They have never suggested this CGM even though I have spoke with them several times about my levels and exercise bla bla bla.
Frustrating!!

Sorry I'm not sure what a CGM is... I've just started this training (3/4weeks now) but I'm not getting a pattern at all with my blood sugar levels. I've told my diabetic team what im doing but... sorry to say it... not much help from them in terms of advise.

How did you manage your diabetes during the event? I'm taking on my first one in April but I'm scared I will drop low or go to high with out much...
Don't the gel tubes get squashed under the water pressure?
That's a good question but no I've never had them damaged because of pressure. I'm down at 30m and they are fine when I surface. I always check each dive.
Hi... I've been type 1 for 17years and i have been diving for just 3years now. It's just testing, testing, testing... and sore finger tips. Plus a bag full of snacks. I go in at 12/14 normally. I notice if my bloods are to high my breathing is very rapid. I manage a nice 1hour long dive...

I'm heading to Greece in 2wks and I'm the same... a little panicked as I have lost a few pounds in 2weeks and really don't want to put it back on.
B 2 egg omelette with cheese, red onion and chorizo
L sausage roll (grabbed quickly whilst at work)
D 2egg omelette (again) with veg
Don't even like eggs that much but trying hard to keep carbs down and so quick to make.
