So I have had my 9 month review since being diagnosed at the end of last August. My HbA1c is now 35. Down from 37 at Christmas and 50 at diagnosis! Weight loss

I started on Metformin in September last year. I also started reducing carbs and calories and increasing walking. I have lost 5 stone to date. I have always had a weight problem and nothing has ever worked before as a diet. I don't know if it's the metformin or the low carb that has made the...

Dr Mosley and the diet that reverses type 2 diabetes.

Yes here you go "Then, three years ago, I went to see my doctor and had a routine blood test. A few days later she rang to say that not only was my cholesterol too high, but my blood sugar was in the diabetic range. Only just, but none-theless, diabetic. Time to go on the tablets. I was shocked...

Dr Mosley and the diet that reverses type 2 diabetes.

I have read the book - Mosley is T2 diabetic as was his Father according to the book. I don't think he claims cure he is claiming getting bloods into normal range and staying there if you make it a lifestyle change. I found it interesting and encouraging and it had some good suggestions for...

    Joined the gym

So I have decided in addition to my low carb lifestyle that the gym needs to happen. So far have managed to get levels down to "normal range" by losing 26kg and upping number of steps but know the rest of the weight - still 36kg to get to goal - will require more exercise! I hate exercise, but I...

new, in denial, and petrified! Please help!!!!!!

I cried constantly for a week and then on and off for another 2 when I was diagnosed in late August. I felt ashamed too but reading stuff on here and elsewhere and finding that T2 runs through both sides of my family ( unknown to me before) made me realise it was not my fault. I also did not...

How long have you been low-carbing?

I have been low carbing (less than 100g a day on a bad day and less than 60 usually) since the beginning of Sept. My BS are in the normal range more frequently than not and I have lost 20Kg. Myfitness Pal........ Fantastic

I have been using this app since just before diagnosis at the end of Aug. I have faithfully logged stuff every day. I love that you can programme in your recipes and reuse them, and scanning the bar codes on foods makes the whole thing so easy! I like seeing the carbs and my total daily count -...

    Low carb work lunch ideas?

I have been making soups. Tesco does a number of fresh veg ready chopped soup packs - you just boil it up with stock then blend. Be careful with the "vegetable" one as it has lots of root veggies in which makes it quite high carb, I have done sweet potato and butternut squash one this week -...

    Low carb coffee shop treat

    Low carb coffee shop treat

I am doing really well with low carb. Was diagnosed 27th Aug and have lost 40lbs, doing very strict low cal and low carb. Am now testing bloods to reintroduce some carbs and see what quantities I can manage. I am quite desperate to find something I can have when I go out for coffee. I have been...

    My meter arrived

I have taken delivery of my meter today from the type 2 testing programme. I measured before my evening meal 5.8 and 2hrs after my low carb curry with no rice 5.5. I have no idea if that sounds right or positive - it is within goals for Type 2 according to my research. I was expecting the second...
