Dealing with cuts (wounds not money!)

All sound advice. Thank you. You're right about washing knives! That's how it happened. I'm away from home at the moment, and my beloved dishwasher, so doing things by hand. And yup, they're sharp! I should know better [emoji52] So when online sites say 'get it looked at' if they don't...

Dealing with cuts (wounds not money!)

Hi Diagnosed T2 earlier this year. I've been pretty clumsy lately and keep cutting myself just doing kitchen chores. Mostly tiny wee things but boy do they sting and seem to take ages to heal over. I've looked online and I realise cuts can take longer to heal but I see advice against using...

That's extremely kind of you but I've already bought one. I'm sure another grateful soul will come along. [emoji4][emoji106]

Yeah, I just bit the bullet and ordered online. The site someone kindly gave me on here deducts VAT at source after a simple 'I am diabetic' declaration.

Indeed. Must add my thanks to you for your posts. You've been a great help. Hope I can pass on some of my experiences too. I think my OSA is becoming more controlled, and the humidifier is a definite improvement.

I'll try that one finger idea. The process of testing isn't all that unpleasant so should be able to cope no problem.

Yes nasal congestion. I've been prescribed with a steroid spray which does seem to help. Good advice all-round. Thanks [emoji4][emoji106]

    Advised against Blood glucose meter

I must admit I do still feel very fatigued during the day quite a bit, often having to grab s nap when time allows. My dietician says this could be a symptom of both diabetes and sleep apnea. The big change is feeling lots better in the morning and feeling more refreshed when getting up. I...

    New and confused!!!

Hi Minette welcome to the forum, I'm new like you. It's been really incredibly helpful to me. I've learned a lot and feel a lot better for my diagnosis and more positive that I can control it. It's just nice to know that you can chat things through with people who are going through what you...

    Advised against Blood glucose meter

Yeah I'm just discovering this! I have a CPAP machine and when I manage to get through a night with it, I do feel lots better in the morning. I still choke on occasion and take coughing fits (it's a full mask I use) which forces me to take it off on occasion. You are so right re the viscous...

    Advised against Blood glucose meter

Met my dietician yesterday and she was great. She also told me that my recent weight problems (I had lost almost 7 stones a couple of years back only to sadly put it back on again) could be a symptom of my diabetes. I have been craving sweet things for a while now. She gave me a different...

I am on all of those tablets and have been for years!! [emoji15] Well, in fact I stopped the statin about a month ago but might be getting put back on them. I'm learning so much from this forum. Can't thank everyone enough [emoji106]

Agreed. Strange thing is, I think I experienced a 'hypo' 6 weeks ago. It was a hot day (we sometimes get them in Scotland) and I was playing golf. I hadn't eaten and felt very light-headed, stars in my eyes kinda thing and thought for the first time in my life I was going to faint. I sat...

I'm early days right enough. For the next three months it'll just be diet controlled but I'd still like to be able to see what's going on. I'm glad they got you sorted out with a consultation etc Eddie. It must be a budget related issue for them and wanting to prioritise their resources for...

That's a shame Carol. I'm getting the impression that the strips on prescription issue is a major bone of contention. [emoji15]

Yeah, I ordered extra strips and the lancets too. [emoji106]

Ah!! I ordered already!! But thanks. Was that just for the meter starter pack, or can I use it to order more strips?

    Advised against Blood glucose meter

That's what I thought! Glad you all agree. I'm not going to panic if it's high, but take on board what it has taught me. Also, great advice about the bit of exercise to get it down. That just didn't occur!! Thank you all most kindly.

    Advised against Blood glucose meter

Hi newly diagnosed on with T2. Saw my practise nurse today and she was very helpful and gave me a load of material to read. Have appointment with dietician on Friday. I asked her about a meter to let me see what's going on. She told me that the advice given out in the Glasgow NHS area is not...
