    Moving to UK

Hi I am in my late fifties, moving to UK from Canada and expect with continued good health stability and good hope to be working soon. My health premiums/tax have been paid for my expected 5 year stay on an ancestry visa which lets me work and it will be lovely to spend some time with my...

    Dark Chocolate Recommendations

LINDT 90% is the best dark chocolate in the world. :) :) :) It is so chocolate and good. If you go lower than the 90%, it tastes grainy sugar, sweetner blecch. You only need a tiny bit of a square and then savour it ....yum. Amazing if you eat it with cashews, or a few raspberries etc...

    Prednisolone

I was prescribed prednisone for a very severe poison ivy reaction (blisters all over my legs and couldn't walk). I was told it was important to follow the medication course. Don't just stop. Follow your pharmacists advice on how to take this medication. I did not like the medication because...

    First three month test

Hi Everyone Here. Thanks so much for your support and good experience stories. Thank you for putting numbers out there. I got a phone message from my doctor's office to say my results were so different for my blood sugar (sorry for not saying it right) 6.1 and just keep on doing what I am...

    First three month test

Apologies for not saying it properly, but my test came back 6.1 and that is well lower than the target 7 my doctor had set. I was kind of scared to go and get that test since I hadn't been using a meter. I am pretty sure I was at 10.3 at diagnosis but lost my papers in a house move. Oh well...

    Type 2 Life

Can't report yet on my levels. Am working on my rent and not my test strips. I do not have coverage for test strips in Canada since I am not on insulin. No worries I will beg from my kids once I swallow that shame. I will definitely put forth a 15 dollars an hour ask at my job....medical...

    Trying to eat

I am having so much trouble with my right foot

OK thank you. I am not having much success getting the itchiness and red patches to go away and have been using the antifungal creme and also "Tinactin" powder. The problem is under my breasts. I haven't tried hydroctisone cream for the itch/redpatch and have decided that I'll let the doctor...

I am having so much trouble with my right foot

Hi thanks. The itchiness is so annoying and my gp doctor did give me fair warning that little fungal infection brats do like to munch on their sugar (my way of speaking, not my dear doctor). I am working on getting a glucometer plus strips and understand that thist is a great tool...

I am having so much trouble with my right foot

I was having a bad infection on my fourth right toe. It is pretty well good now. After three courses of antibiotic and anti fungal cream it is gone. The infection was really scary. Now I have to see my gp again about itchy skin under my breasts, can't wear a bra comfortably, Cranky and...

Is retinopathy & progression to Insulin inevitable for Type 2 diabetics?

Hi. I don't think I have to expect all the really scary things that might happen to me. I am trying to deal with a diagnosis type 2 and get my diabetes under control. I guess I will ask the active (80 years plus) how they managed their diabetes Take it easy.

Hi. I am new. Type 2

OK thanks very much. I get the buyer beware part now that you've shown me that pitfall. I think I am making a plan to assign this task of looking for economical test strips to my online savvy kids. I think that is a good plan for me.

Hi. I am new. Type 2

Thank you very much. This is helpful to me, but I am Canadian and having a little bit of cross cultural difficulties. Maybe I should try to read your link more closely, but I am up to here with it all and not focusing that well. I am giving this task to my online savvy adult kids. Just made...

Hi. I am new. Type 2

Thank you for your replies. Apologies if I am new to the forum and don't get some technical stuff. I went to the pharmacy and found that the meter is free and the test strips cost $90.00 for 100 strips. For me, newly diagnosed type 2 and not on insulin, I think as you say, testing is...
