    Pump Help high sugars

cool, sounds like its starting to work. Horrible feeling when your sugars are that high. Don't worry it happens to the best of us, sounds to me like the cannula wasnt inserted properly when you changed it this afternoon or was in a site with high resistance. Always good to double check about...

    Pump Help high sugars

If your sugars don't start coming down now you have changed the sight I would call 111 and ask for an emergency doctors appointment at closest hospital (You will have to wait for ever in a & e) explain the situation and ask for a disposable insulin pen so you can level out your sugar levels.

    Waiting list for a pump

The trick is to convince your diabetes team that it will benefit your control and that you are trying very hard using your insulin pen but you are still not getting the results you want. I always used the argument of how frustrating it is when i carb counted and could not give myself the right...

1st Commute to work on the bike with the pump.

I think it all depends on how quick your body reacts to you insulin. My body is very quick to react, if I reduce my pump to early I end up with rocketing blood sugars. My DSD recommended 2 hours before hand to me. I play football which is slightly different to cycling! You will have to try...

    Who are pumps best for?

Yes I see your point, Doctors are given this advice to keep costs down I believe. A friend of mine is type 2 (Late onset) and he tests his blood sugar around twice a day. If people want test strips including type 2s they just have to ask their doctor. Another friend of mine who has type 2 has...

    Pump diemma

When I started on my pump I was put on the same fast acting insulin as I was already using, majority of insulins should be available in vial form for you to put in your pump. Sites for cannulas are an individual thing, I use my stomach, but people in my group also used to put in their thigh as...

    Who are pumps best for?

Type 1 diabetics receive free prescriptions so it is not a worry. I did have to fight with my doctor to get enough test strips as the NHS allows an average of about 40 sticks per patients per month. Lots of people however don't bother testing, especially type 2 diabetics. I personally get 250...

What's the lowest hypo value you're ever had?

I remember once that when i went for my HBA1C test that when the results were given to me they told me that my blood sugar reading at the time was 0.8 but they believed it to be a typing error! Looking back on it I was still walking, at the time but a bit vague with an overwhelming desire to...
