got told off today by consultant :(

so i had my hba1c today which came back as 4.9% i know this is pretty low but i'm still getting use to insulin adjustments per meal and i tend to overestimate if i'm unsure. 4.9's gotta be better than 7 or 8 though right? but my consultant said there' no evidence that an hba1c of anything below...

    skipping meals/routine

when i was first diagnosed their was a big emphasis on routine, 'don't skip meals', 'eat within certain time frames' etc. i don't find skipping meals a problem, i find my levels are more stable when i don't eat. is this way of thinking just left over from when people couldn't check their BG's...

went to the db nurse, mainly cos i wanted a new BG meter (accu check compact gt) and was pretty annoyed when she handed me one in a opened box, but i also had my feet checked out. she said they were fine and all, no sensation loss etc. but that i had 'typical diabetic feet'; pale, hairless and...

not sure if someone's stared this thread already but they usually include T2's when i've seen them around. thought between the forum we could compile a list of successful and 'inspirational' T1's. a list to show newly diagnosed peeps so they know what they can still achieve. + something for us...

    Thiamine deficiency in diabetics

i'm sure most of you have heard this but for any who haven't. according to Warwick Uni diabetics generally have 75% thiamine deficiency, well 70-90% of us. the 30-10% who don't may be those who stay complication free. (along with good BG control of course). human studies aren't proven yet but...

    'artificial pancreas' release date?

does anyone know when the artificial pancreas is expected for release? i've heard 2yrs, 5yrs and 10yrs but most of the literature is a few years out of date, i can't really find anything on current trials. maybe it's just because its in its 2nd phase of trials and so there's no results yet.
