    Blood sugar question

Hiya all, Why <7 Noblehead? My table shows 90% insulin used by 3 hours. If one has injected 10 units novorapid, then 1 unit to be used. For me 1 insulin unit = 3 BG. If my BG was under 7 after 3 hours I'd hypo on 5 hours. So I'd hope to have BG=8 after 3 hrs with 10 units. Also my table...

Romeo You mean you get high BG? Do you carb count - basal / bolus? If u had insulin resistance then it wouldn't you be able to just increase your doses? Sean

Hiya Pammy How do you mean about the diabetes? Do you mean you are having real difficulty with the control? Are you on basal / bolus insulin regime? Sean Approx 5* creon 40,000 per meal. Was 8* 25,000 (same ofc) but adjust with size and fat / protein content.

Sugars dropping - good or bad - chronic pancreatitis

Heya Andy, Good luck with your BG's! Sean (I've no idea what you mean by "multiple injections"). Oh I see you mean the way you split? I have a needle phobia so I use as few injections as possible.

Sugars dropping - good or bad - chronic pancreatitis

I have same brittle problems. My current method. Zero Levemir. - I think if I don't appear to have a "background" insulin then why try to counteract? I had an episode of Euglycemic diabetic ketoacidosis - this is my "evidence" to myself that I dont need levemir. I'm my own untrained Doc lol. I...

Type 3c - how many are we?

Crikey Peter. What a terrible run. Good luck and best wishes to you. BTW - Creon is enzyme replacement therapy. So you are 3c. Hello and welcome Mattuk. So we have yet to find one Doctor / diabetes specialist in the UK who has any general advice / procedure on how best to deal with 3c and...

    Creon

Hello Ballabob! It's not different symptoms as such. But there are characteristics. There are more definitions etc. in this forum. Please take a look / make a post. One difference will hopefully be the way the diabetes is treated. e.g malabsorption may play a role. Also often an assumption is...

    Type 3c Diabetes

Hiya Kirktown! An afternoon more than panc then! boomboom!! Is it really their job tho? Like most things, patient goes to GP with complaint, GP fixes or usually refers e.g for alcohol. There are lots of specialist alcohol clinics, no? I'm sure the GP will refer or give advice? If you are...

    Type 3c Diabetes

One thing Shar - if you have CP - how would they know for certain if it were caused by alcohol or not. Yeah I think these made up % links with alcohol are 2 things. 1. They assume a patient who has an alcohol related illness e.g panc from alcohol, injuries from drunk driving etc (?). should...

    Type 3c Diabetes

Thanks, read the link, second time around. I couldn't see where they got these % from. Which study? which patients were observed and questioned etc? I see idiopathic has been reduced to <5% at the bottom here. What happened!? when i've seen it at 20 and 30%??? They just shoved them in the...

    Type 3c Diabetes

Heya Shar Again where do you get these from?? "Repeated acute attacks are usually caused by alcohol or they don't know cause, repeated attacks usually lead to chronic." I have found no evidence for this. Do you honestly think "they" know? I just wonder who is collecting these stats?? What is...

    Type 3c Diabetes

Hiya Shar - hope panc's playing ball today. "fortunately pancreatitis is fairly rare though 90% of sufferers have alcohol problems, around 5% is caused by gallstones and the other 5% is autoimmune or other cause." Shar - this is wrong. Where did you get it? Biggest cause is gallstones /...

    Feeling sorry for myself

Shar. You know it will end, and you'll be happy again. Thoughts with you until then. Do you use Oramorph? I found various relaxation techniques great for low level pain and as an aid. No use at all for my pancreas pain, which is way too strong. A friend of a friend described her pain (one...

What's your background glucose production rate?

Why is it useless? It's not part of slow acting calculations? Yeah it seems huge. Do you know the process that the body produces this "background" glucose? Ta, Sean

    A Handbook for Nurses 1910/14

Thanks Robin! Great stuff. Arsenic + opium washed down with diluted sulphuric. Can't go wrong. The 1936 one is remarkably modern? Or is it the same until very recently?

    Humalog experience?

Cheers Urbanracer, I know it's not simple, but i think by being given 30/70 only, it is impossible + therefore the wrong prescription. You being given RA only as well makes ALL the difference! Actually with my panc I'm unable to know whether I would be able to keep down any food adjustments...

    Humalog experience?

Urbanracer, Sorry - just read your reply. I'm also 70/30 twice a day. Thanks. This is the kind of thing I tried, but I still have a problem that it is a work-around. In your e.g. you take 12 for the 30g breakfast. The 9 long acting you have no choice over. Should the LA depend on what you eat...
