Type 1 Type 1 low carb and weight loss

Hi everyone I started on a low carb diet with my partner just over a month ago in a bid to lose some weight after having my twins. I also am very insulin resistant i.e bolus ratio of 1:5 and basal of 28U in am and 34U in pm. I’m also on 2 metformin tablets a day. I’ve not lost any weight at all...

Some good T1 news on world diabetes day

I’d love to test that much in a day, but I’m not able and I desperately want the libre because I’m not able to test that often so have no idea of my blood. I have 7 month old twins and since they were born my bloods have gone downhill because these two are so hard to manage and my levels are...

20 Week Fetal Heart Scan In London ?

I didn’t have one but a diabetic friend of mine who lives in the next area over had it done. It depends on the area I think. I asked about it as I wasn’t offered one and she was, and I was told they didn’t do them unless there was concern like condition in the family, or if you had a high HbA1C...

    Pump or injections??

Just to give you an idea about the injection side from my personal experience, I injected all the way through my pregnancy. My consultant offered a pump if my control wasn’t tight enough, but I managed to keep it tight and near the end, about 34 weeks, my HbA1C was 5.3% from 7.1% at the start...

    Pregnant with Twins! Any advice??

That’s ok! It’s nice to talk to other people in my situation, I can’t imagine it’s very common. That’s another thing is when I have my antenatal appointments at the hospital, I go to the diabetes clinic rather than the twin clinic obviously as diabetes is more important, but consequently I...

    Pregnant with Twins! Any advice??

Hiya! Yes very very pregnant now, 35+3 and the size of a small whale! I did hypo a lot yes, and still do occasionally, so much so I had to split my basal dose and do twice a day. I must’ve drunk over 100 small juice cartons this whole pregnancy for hypos [emoji848] One thing I would say is I...

Be honest, how -are- you doing?

It’s so refreshing to hear all these answers! I’m really feeling the pressure to maintain my BGs at the moment. I’m 34+4 weeks pregnant with twins and the pressure of keeping my blood within range on top of all the pains and sickness and aches is so tiring [emoji17] Getting a higher reading then...

    Kidney Issues

ACR is the abbreviation for Albumin Creatinine Ratio. It’s a measure of how well your kidneys are functioning. For your results you should’ve got a number back which is your ACR in mg/mmol

    Pregnant and aspirin

Hiya, congratulations by the way! I’m a T1 currently 26+4 with twin boys and I’ve been on aspirin since probably week 12 as prescribed by my consultant. Low dose 75mg is ok I believe. I’ve noticed my blood pressure is better in pregnancy than pre pregnancy from taking it. 75mg is a very low...

Type 1 Morning high and basal Doses

Do you give it a few days to settle? I've found if I change my Levemir dose, it takes a few days before I'll notice any changes, if any. [emoji4]

    Pregnancy prep

You'll be very well looked after I can assure you so don't worry! I'm pregnant at the moment and it is tough, lots of testing but it's going to be very worth it! I got pregnant by accident and my HbA1C was 7.1% but now 4 months in is down to about 5.8% through lots of testing and plenty of...

    Very early pregnancy

Personally I was the opposite. At about 7ish weeks I had to drop my basal by about 1/3 and suffered with frequent hypos all night. However everyone is different and I've found that insulin needs can change within a matter of days! Congratulations with your pregnancy! X

    Strange Hypo

It's a tough battle for sure! I cried the other day when the doctors got my prescription wrong! So silly! I'm 18 weeks currently!

    Strange Hypo

Possibly I took too much insulin, I would agree it was probably too much bolus since it was so soon after

    Strange Hypo

Yes that's probably the best idea, I just worry eating too much will send my bloods up which will hurt baby :( it's an emotional rollercoaster at the moment
