Finally got the polytunnel up and covered, it's several degrees warmer in there than outside! Very pleased with the result but hoping we don't get too many storms, I don't really want to have to put another one up next year! 9.30am glass kefir 12pm 3 chicken drumsticks and a thigh Pork...

T2 or NAFLD? ...or, a funny thing happened on the way to the surgery

I'm not sure where I heard it (might even be here in the forums) but someone said ketones are an energy source and perhaps you're using most of what you produce, so you may see lower numbers in your blood. It made sense to me.

    I'm an idiot

I love "Between cakes" :hilarious: That was me in my pre and early diabetic days, and when I fall off the wagon occasionally even now. I agree that seeing what certain foods do to your blood sugar levels is a great idea, I use fingerprick tests but a libre is a great idea if you can afford...

So a very intense battle with the polytunnel frame today! I had scrambled eggs and pork crackling for breakfast, then just slogged on getting the frame together, which took much longer than I wanted it to. I kept making mistakes and having to undo and redo bits. It's done though! Just need...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Hi all, Breakfast 11am 3 scrambled eggs pork crackling Intense day fighting with a polytunnel frame, ended up much later than I intended and slipped into a bit of a carb binge. Back to normal tomorrow! At least I swerved the takeaway that was calling my name, so that's something.

Intermittent fasting alongside LCHF. Mutual support, anyone?

Fantastic results! I think a lot of us are kind of all or nothing when it comes to blood sugar control - it's vital for most of us to improve insulin sensitivity and the only way to do that is to keep BG under control almost all the time, at least until insulin sensitivity has improved. Sadly...

Hi all, cold but dry day with odd bits of sunshine, so I spent the day attempting to assemble the small polytunnel - I didn't get to it the other day as I had to use the opportunity (aka a dry day and my available energy) to get the long grass cut. I only got half the polytunnel done, it's a...

I get them from Amazon @LivingLightly, I don't live in a city so things like that can be difficult to source.

That sounds lovely! A good break is so important for carers, I never got one as my caring was during covid, and out the other side but no time then to really organise respite - it was discussed but mum's needs had progressed to 24/7 at that point and hospices had no capacity. I hope your son...

Hi all, it rained pretty much all day today so I spent the day sulking and watching films! There is plenty to do in the house but I felt moody so went with a lazy day. I felt tempted to eat carbs today but didn't give in thankfully. 10am glass of kefir 12.30pm Small bowl of minced beef in...

Home blood prick tests - a waste of time?

I find fingerprick tests useful for a couple of reasons - firstly it keeps me motivated to stay off carbs, as I can see an immediate high response in BG when I eat them (I still do eat carbs sometimes, just not all the time as I used to) and secondly I can see trends over time. The fingerprick...

I should have said I still love white fish, especially in the form of fish and chips!! It's the oily fish that are healthier that I have gone off, it's very strange. When I (rarely) go out to eat my friends always joke that I only ever want fish and chips even in quite fancy places :hilarious:
