My Pet and Me - Alert Dog

I’m sat watching My Pet and Me with my little one and they’ve got a Labrador on there who’s an alert dog for a little girl whose got T1. All the facts about T1 were right and it was so refreshing so see it done and labelled properly. Well done CBeebies!

    Skin tac alternative

Found out from my GP yesterday that skin tac wipes aren’t available on the NHS and they’re too expensive for me to fund myself. Does anyone have anything similar that they get in the NHS? My pump no longer sticks to my stomach since having my daughter so I’ve lost a large area of pump sites :(

    Ladies things (sorry blokes!)

Does anyone else’s visit from Mother Nature make your bloods run high? Mine are higher the week before and the actual week I’m on. What’s the solution?? Temp basal? [emoji30]

    Illness - temp basal?

My house has been plagued with a cold! Bg are running about 5-6mmol above normal and corrections aren’t really doing much about it. So I’m going to set a temp basal of 110% and will see how that goes. My question is what does everyone else do? Do you use temp basal or have a set basal rate for...

How to test 18month old :(

I’m going to test my daughters blood sugar levels tomorrow morning. She’s been drinking 6+ cups of squash a day and having very full wee nappies (unusually excessive for her). She’s also been unusually touchy the last few days. I’m hoping that I’m just being paranoid. Do I test her in her...

    My GP is beyond naff.

So I handed my repeat in earlier this week. All I needed was test strips. Ticked the box, popped it in to the doctors and went home for them to deliver it to me. Simple you would think! Ooh no. It came today. I got... Keto strips Insulin Needles for pens (I’m on a pump?!) x5 novo pens No...

    MySugr App

So I’ve found this app and it seems good! I like a lot of the features it has and I especially like the estimated hba1c. Had anyone used this app and had the estimate close to reality?

    After meal testing

I'm a little confused. I test my bg and bolus about 20mins before my meal and then I like to test again two hours after my meal. Do people test two hours after they bolus or two hours after the last mouthful? x

    Type 1: Worst hypo ever!

Well I'm so glad Luke was home tonight. He's been on nights all week. It started off as a usual night for us, bathed Holly and put her to bed in her Moses basket next to my side of the sofa until it's time for us to go to bed and then we carry her up. Then we cooked and ate dinner and then we...

    Anyone on the implant?

So as wonderful as Holly is, I don't want anymore children for quite a while! Because of this I'm considering having the implant, I like the idea that it lasts for 3 years and once it's in j don't need to do anything or think about taking any pills (I have the memory of a goldfish!) so I was...

    British Red Cross

I've just downloaded the British Red Cross app on my phone and thought I'd test it's reliability by reading the advice it gives to people that are helping those with diabetes. Does anybody else read this as advice to give people insulin if they have it? It's not very clear I don't think...

New Mum: Fed up with being in the 2s :(

Not after any advice really but if anybody has any then I'll be grateful! As most of you know I had my little girl three weeks ago, who, by the way, is doing amazingly well and I couldn't be a prouder mum! But anyway, someone please tell me that these hypos will end! I don't BF anymore because...

    Sliding scale help please!!!

Sorry about the quick message but I'm in a rush. Currently in hospital about to be put on a sliding scale ready for steroid injections. Do I need to leave my pump on or take it off? They're telling me I need to keep it on but surely I'll have double dosage then!? Thanks Claire x

    Induction changed to caesarean!

Had a scan today (36 weeks) and my baby is measuring 10.4lbs so the doctor has changed my induction to a caesarean instead. I've got my pre op this Friday ready for the operation next Friday. I've never had an operation before so I don't know what to expect. Can anybody enlighten me please...

    Very angry with my pump!!!

I'm having an off day and nothing is going right!!! I somehow managed to pull my pump out during the night but I didn't realise until mid morning because it was in my back and was still stuck on :( When I realised I was 15.6 and changed infusion sets and thought I'd fixed it. No. There was an...
