HBA1c - please tell us how quick you reversed your numbers

I reversed my diabetes a few years ago, but things went wrong and I found myself with an HbA1C of 85 in Dec 21. I reduced to 45 by June the following year. In December 22 I added atorvastatin to the 500mg dose of metformin I was taking, reluctantly as I'd read it could worsen diabetes and I was...

Type 2 Bempedoic acid instead of statins

Thanks for your reply. The graphs are from screenshots from Feb cgm readings and last week’s readings (May). Luckily I’ve experienced no side effects, but my latest readings seem much improved on those taken when I was on statins.

Type 2 Bempedoic acid instead of statins

Has anyone else with high cholesterol switched to Bempedoic acid instead of a statin (Atorvastatin in my case)? I was very reluctant to start taking statins as I’d heard they can worsen diabetes, and this seemed to be reflected in my blood tests 3 months after reluctantly agreeing to take...

    Protein bread

This bread has been a life save for me. I've been having a slice a day, toasted, since I discovered it in Asda, but they've just taken it off the shelves again. The replacement, has about 30 g carbs a slice.:(

Insulin resistance, t3, GLUT4, dawn phenomenon

A week on and my blood sugar seems much less volatile. I’m assuming I’m actually being more careful with my diet as the scanner is monitoring me! I’m due another set of tests soon and will ask for a T3 test. (They usually test my T4).

    best blood sugar remote sensor

Hi, I’m halfway through a free trial of Libre 2, which I’m finding very useful for spotting when and sometimes why my blood sugar is rising. I had a coaching session yesterday - also free - which was also good. I’m going to be trying different combinations of food to see how it affects me, with...

Insulin resistance, t3, GLUT4, dawn phenomenon

This is interesting to read, although I can't shed any light on your experience I'm afraid. I have just started using a continuous glucose monitor (on trial) to try and understand what sends my blood sugars high. I've been astonished to see that my glucose readings rise through the night...

How do I select a blood sugar monitor?

I have an iPhone I have an iphone 6. I do have an old samsung, so I'll see if I can get that working. Thanks!

How do I select a blood sugar monitor?

I'd like to be able to monitor my blood sugar using a continuous monitor like the FreeStyle Libre system, but my phone is not up to date enough for the app. I was diagnosed with diabetes 2 about six years ago, but mangaged to keep it in remission until recently. I have been testing by pricking...

    Reversing diabetes

Hi Dudette1, I'm also searching for if and how I can stay in remission and consider my diabetes reversed, for good. I was in remission - and my GP's notes said Diabetes reversed - a couple of years ago, after following a very low carb diet. I found a low carb diet suited me for ages. I was...

How long are you on LCHF diet?

I started with the 8 week blood sugar diet and sort of carried on for several months. I ' reversed' my diabetes in about 3 months - and all was well for about a year. However, after that, I put back most of the weight I'd taken off and relaxed the low carb diet, resulting in the return of a...

I’ve reversed my type 2 diabetes

I've just discovered that my HbA1C has come down to almost normal (43) after being high in the summer (74). This is the second time I've 'reversed' my diabetes with a low carb diet, and I know I need to keep to it and continue to lose weight. I'm very pleased, of course and plan to stay on track.

Prescribed Metformin but wondering I can do this on diet alone

Like so many on here I think controlling diabetes through diet is the way to go, if you can! I feel fortunate that I found this site after being diagnosed a few years ago and after a while managed to lose enough weight and drop the carbs enough to go into remission. However, I slipped back into...

Type 2 (again) with strange blood sugar readings

It was shockingly high, 74 mmol/mol. I was so pleased when my doctor said I was clear, although I always knew it could come back. So, I think you’re quite right, it doesn’t disappear, it’s held back.

Type 2 (again) with strange blood sugar readings

I will buy new strips. I think I knew that would be the wise thing to do. It has occurred to me that my readings rose quite substantially when I opened this new (out of date pot), after the previous pot (also out of date).

Type 2 (again) with strange blood sugar readings

After being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 4 years ago, I was delighted to be told I was clear / in remission after I’d been following a low carb and very low cal diet for a while. Unfortunately, this year things went pear-shaped and a month ago discovered I was diabetic once again. I don’t...

    Just Dance!

I love my dancing too! If it's the right music I can keep going for ages. At home, I use Spotify to choose my music and just as I think I must sit down, another favourite kicks in, so I keep dancing. I also use YouTube as they have some good zumba and dance videos to move to. I went to a zumba...

    LOW CARB SUCCESS STORIES

Hi, I started cutting down on carbs when I was diagnosed as type 2 in early 2016. However, it wasn't until I went on the blood sugar diet in Jan 18 that I became more consistent, stopping eating all bread, wheat products, pasta rice and potato. I was delighted to lose 2.5 stone over that 8...
