I had just turned 11 when I was diagnosed. Although I had two serious hypos before my 20s, it didn't properly hit me until I read up on it at uni!

I was diagnosed as T1D when I had just turned 11. Although I knew thimgs could go wrong, the penny properly dropped for me when I started reading about it in more depth at university. Before then, I solely relied on what my Diabetes team would tell me. :/

How are her children with it all? Also, is she still with their dad?

It sounds to me like the sabotage could almost be a distraction technique to distract herself and others of the real issue- the severity of her diabetes. Or as others have said, a defence. If she sabotages her health then she's in complete control, it's her terms, her fault. It's almost like...

This might sound a little random, but how old is she and at what age was she diagnosed? (:

As soon as I saw the picture any nervous thoughts left, she was fantastic! So far I've been insanely lucky, it's been peeling a little and I reckon it has a while to go on that front, but apart from that it's been fine (: xx

Yeah I got that vibe a little, but she was an apprentice. I'd done enough research to help her, so I think she's more clued up now xD

That's what I was about to say- my sugars went up during it! According to Diabetes UK, it's because of the stress you put your body under xD I got diagnosed at 11 too! 24 now. (:
