    Peer Pressure

Hi From my experience, when I drink beer my blood sugars will reach a peak about 1hour (About 2.5 pint time) after starting drinking, and then will fall. They will then carry on falling, no matter how many beers I carry on drinking. The peak level, will depend on 1) If I have done my...

    Cloud 9

Hi My reading have never been that high in the morning, but I was on metformin as soon as I was diagnosed. Hover, I did suffer from dawn phenomenon, but I seem to have that sorted by drinking a pint of water spiked with apple cider before bed. (Excluding, when I had a cold and the bucket of...

My story appears on Diabetes UK

Hi I didn't swim for 35 years. Went back to it in April, but then started properly in May, IE started to swim every morning. Yes, I am having some 1-2-1 lessons. Crawl technique is fine (ish), it is a matter of being able to keep going with it over long distance. It is much more draining that...

    Codefree Bg Meter.

I have an SD code meter and a freestyle freedom light. The freestyle is suppose to be very accurate, but the strips are much me expensive than the code free. Anyway, I have been seeing how close the SD codefree is to the freestyle. Left column is SD code free, second is the Freestyle (Taken from...

Type 2 Can Poeple with Diabetes add Honey to thier Oats for breakfast, if not what natural sweetner is ok.

Hi I can't eat oats, as that raises my blood sugar. Honey will also raise blood sugar. This is a natural substitute for sugar, that won't raise blood sugar....I haven't used it so can't comment, but my mum does...

Hi I swim , and my BS always goes up after a swim. I swim in the morning, so tried not having breakfast and it rises, I have had breakfast before and it rises. Nothing I can do, it rises. However, I have noticed 1) The fitter I have become, the less it rises. 2) It does rises more on Mondays...

    Type 2, Reducing Medication

Hi Well done, also personally I find exercise does help to control blood sugars. I must admit I am now a bit obsessive, after not doing any for 35 years. and swim a mile every day . However I find my BS will be fine, even if I miss one day. However if I miss two days, things that my body would...

Hi Well done...I got down to 39 about 2 months ago, and the GP let me come off my met (500mg x 2 daily). I said I would keep an eye on blood sugar and if it went wrong, I would come back and see her. Anyway, had a couple of high readings in the first week (I think my liver was enjoying being...
