More sugar in my right side than my left!

I know my blood pressure is different if I measure from right arm compared to left. I assume this is due to the heart's "plumbing" but Ive never tried your experiment. I do remember reading in my meter manual that taking a blood sample from a hand palm may not be as accurate as a finger tip...

More sugar in my right side than my left!

Do you take longer reading one side to the other? The water in a blood sample will evapourate whereas the glucose wont.

More statin hilarity before shock and horror

I notice when statins are prescribed that cholesterol levels are supposed to be monitored on starting these things. Maybe they are safe if the correct dosage is given but how many GP’s do a daily check on these things to ensure correct dosage. This applies to an awful lot of other medicines...

GCSE biology textbook - diabetes section...

I don’t think people should be allowed to have diabetes until they have passed GCSE Biology, Maths and Computing! :)

    Reduced waist question.

Its hard to tell without a DEXA scan which are normally about £120. You can sometimes get good deals on Wowcher for these. I did see a documentary where they described a type 2 diabetic as being “fat skinny” where they looked thin but carried their weight in visceral fat around the liver etc.

My Fitness Pal....bug or something more sinister? Help!

As a backup I print MyFitnessPal reports (free browser version) to a PDF file instead of to paper. This also enables me to quickly find previous meals using the “Find” option in most PDF viewers. Once you know the date of previous meals you can use the meal details for a current date. This is...

My Fitness Pal....bug or something more sinister? Help!

On testing MyFitnessPal on my mobile Android 7 phone (free account) the screenshots are the same as your iPad. I didn't notice the loss of details as I just use the web browser version.

My Fitness Pal....bug or something more sinister? Help!

I used to use a desktop computer at the local library and access via a web browser when visiting a friend. Should be safe enough if you make sure you log out after use. (and preferably restart the computer after use). Id write the carbs down in a paper notepad to work out insulin for that day

My Fitness Pal....bug or something more sinister? Help!

Correction to my post: Your screenshoots are from the mobile app version not the desktop version. I only ever use the mobile phone version for scanning barcodes then resume editing in desktop version.

My Fitness Pal....bug or something more sinister? Help!

My free version is OK. Your screenshot for diary settings shows a WiFi symbol that says "No Service". Try other apps that use WiFi to see if OK. If it is just MyFitnessPal clear your browser web cache (usualy in advanced settings) . If all else fails; create a new free account!

Who on here eats a ' normal diet"......

I would think a number of ideas in this diet could be adapted to low carb use. I run two diets at once. An 1850 Cal diet @ 50% carb. This diet for “break even” weight for no loss or gain. The second is a “treats” diet. To get the treats I mainly use Google Fit on a mobile phone. This tells me...

    Visit to My GP

Don't argue. Turn any lecture into a question. e.g. So why do you think brown rice is good for me? People cannot dominate a conversation if you don't give them any fuel to argue. They then have to justify their statement while you sit back and let them get on with it. I was taught to do this...

    How do you know?....

There seems to be a significant number of members to this site with an HbA1c below 42. I would be interested in one aspect of “now in remission” status is the amount of damage that a previous high HbA1c has caused. Could this be a similar situation cigarette smokers get years after a person...

    Is this an unbiassed report?

Notice opening picture on report shows an Avocado. These need 37 gallons of water EACH to grow in California. One Almond seed requires 1.1 gallons! I suspect the report was written by a water company :)
