Question to the hive mind regarding prescriptions

I'm on metformin and trulicity. neither of which cause hypos. I've had one serious hypo a couple of years ago, but as I was trying my best to keep in range, I had a few lows but jelly babies came to the rescue until I could have something more longer lasting. Now as I can't test in front of a...

Question to the hive mind regarding prescriptions

Hey, That was when I was first back in the UK. I was also suffering from a lot of mental health issues at the time which lead to a complete mental break down. To be honest with you, my practice has never formally diagnosed me, they just accepted the diagnosis from Dubai. They also haven't...

Why do health care professionals seem to think T2 is not serious?

I recently spoke with a health care professional who seemed to think that T2's didn't need to test and also didn't get hypos. She was a little stunned when I told her I'd had to have an ambulance called for me on 2 occasions in the past. This is not the first time I have encountered this...

Question to the hive mind regarding prescriptions

Hi, Up until very recently I was self funding the Libre 2, got told point blank I would never be able to get it on prescription as I am T2 and not on insulin. But what I would really like to know is if other T2's get test strips on prescription? My only reason for asking is that they cost money...

    I am over reacting?

Hey, next week is a little quieter at work, so will have more of a chance to do something. I am going to speak to the Union rep and the doc next week. hope it can help. I know I am making a lot of progress mending bridges with the student body after last years hell on Earth. They got the brunt...

    I am over reacting?

During the holidays I get to eat when I'm hungry, can't always do this in work. Also during the holidays I am a lot more picky about the carb content of what I eat. Going back to work makes eating healthy or following a low carb diet a bit difficult.

    I am over reacting?

We have a morning break, but generally that is more like 5 minutes as you move your stuff to the next class room. very difficult to grab any food. today I have 5 lessons back to back. That is a normal day for most teachers in the UK. between individual lessons I might have 1 minute which again...

    I am over reacting?

I am eating low carb sandwiches, I have one just before lessons start, about 8:30. Then one at lunch. If I can do that the hypos are less. Oh H&S is over rated, sometimes it about the way you put across the "dangerous" experiments. They are safe but you don't always tell the kids that!!!

    I am over reacting?

To be honest yes. And people I work with have either no interest or no time to take an interest in my diabetes. Today I missed lunch and started dropping, alarm went off just as the lesson ended. I was then supposed to go straight into a meeting. Luckily I was able to shove a low carb sandwich...

    I am over reacting?

Thanks for you advice. I love almonds and they were my go to food. But in a nut free school they are a no-no. I am trying to get an appointment with my doc to get a referral.

    I am over reacting?

I do tend to get the Alps on my graphs, I'm a science teacher so bouncing off the walls is not a good thing when you have Bunsen burners on the go. I am trying to get an appointment with my doc, just that getting one is very hit and miss. I have informed them all on what to look for if I have a...

    I am over reacting?

It's the start of a new term in a very high performing school. Everyone is under pressure to deliver, but because of the time I had off last year I seem to be under the spotlight a lot more. I'm not one of those teachers who sits at their desk and teaches. In fact I only sit down when I take the...

    I am over reacting?

I have only been back in the UK for a year after 13 years working abroad. So silly question, do I just ask my doctor for a referral? at the moment my diabetes is being handled by my GP's practice.

    I am over reacting?

My sugars go up after meals and usually recover after about 2 or 3 hours. I am in a union and have been putting off speaking to anyone as I don't want something that turns out to be nothing escalating.

    I am over reacting?

I was diagnosed about 5 years ago. my last A1c was low, but can't remember the numbers I'm not aware of any other health issues. I think I am supposed to have an over 50's health check but I have no idea how I go about sorting that out.

    I am over reacting?

When I was diagnosed I was in Dubai, my fasting blood reading was 5 times what is normal. I have had blood tests and I know one of them was to see if I am producing insulin. Which I am.

    I am over reacting?

I checked with the blood and that was only 3.0 I need to drive home so I double checked. I was nearly taken off metformin completely and was aiming to by next Easter. But with the mental health issues I am having I decided to just keep managing the diabetes and continue to recover from the...
