I've been advised to balance my Levemir with my NovoRapid. IE try to match units I take over a 24hr period...Is this the norm?

My diabetic nurse changed my insulin from Levemir to Lantus to try & get 24hr background cover..made me feel ill,so I now have gone back to Levemir injecting twice a day...is there any reason why Lantus should have made feel ill?
