    Mini Pocket Sharps Bin question

Thanks for the responses everyone! Just to clarify, I wasn't asking on how to dispose of my needles. I have the large bins that my pharmacy takes without any issues. I'm also not in the UK so the links to UK specific procedures aren't helpful, sorry. I was just curious if I were to buy these...

    Mini Pocket Sharps Bin question

I've had my eye on these for a while: https://friouk.com/product/mini-pocket-sharps-bin/ I can't tell if they're reusable (so you empty them into your large sharps bin) or if they're single use and should be disposed after you deposited the 25 needles into them. Does anyone else use these and...

    Type 2 starting the insulin

Hey emil :) There can be numerous reasons for increased fasting levels, or higher overall levels. Stress and environmental changes can do that. It doesn't look too worrying to me, but if you have Type 2 and insulin resistance, you may need to take another look at your diet. Before we can give...

First ever insulin injection - please help!

I don't have a whole lot to add to this topic that hasn't already been said. I use Toujeo, and it also can burn more than my other insulin. I inject both Toujeo and Novorapid into my belly, but I'm also fat and have a lot of belly, so there hasn't been a need to inject elsewhere (yet). One...

    Disadvantages & advantages of Metformin

I've been taking it since diagnosis. I'm currently insulin dependent (and will be for life) but I continue to take it 2x a day at 1000mg each. I never had any stomach issues on it, but I also take a stomach protector because I was having problems even before I was on oral meds. I keep them...

    Be careful white bread

Try the Lidl protein rolls, if you slice them into halves and then pop the halves into the toaster to warm them up, they taste just as good as bread but they don't raise people's bloodsugar. I often don't even have to take insulin to cover those.

    A bit of denial...

If you don't mind sharing, what does insulin do that you hate? I understand being angry and resentful at a chronic illness. I have several, and it makes you feel weak and stripped of your power - you didn't choose these things, they just happened, and there's often no real reason why other than...

Had anxiety for almost 15 years now, including panic attacks. The bad ones make me pee like a horse.

Sugar level elevation after having an afternoon nap???

Happens to me too, I usually drop significantly during a nap (somewhere between 4.5-5.5 usually) and after I wake up, my body dumps glucose, even if it's been over 6 hours since I last ate. It's pretty normal, I usually have a small snack with a small injection and it keeps me below 7 most of...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.1 this morning. Been dealing with a jaw/tooth infection as of last weekend and although I've not been able to eat solids much, my levels have been really stable, if slightly elevated from the infection. Proud of myself for managing it so well! I understand both sides! I love the brief, quick...

Type 1 What size needle do you use ?

I have 31G 5mm needles for my Toujeo pen, and 32G 6mm Novofine needles for my Novorapid pen. (Which sounds inconvenient but it doesn't bother me and makes it easier to ration out my needles and get my prescriptions renewed.)

    LADA treatment of

Yeah, opinions are strongly divided. I am indeed LADA. Right now I'm on Toujeo (basal) and Novorapid (bolus, for with meals). My own insulin production has gone down dramatically, I can't go without injections anymore. I'm hesitant to say we should be treated as T1 or T2 because we shouldn't be...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

6.5 but I'm so okay with this. I crashed to 3.2 before bed, apparently I get bad at recognizing hypos when I'm dealing with nausea and headaches.

    LADA treatment of

Hey Reba! I'm in the Netherlands, yeah. :) My c-peptide test came back way low in 2014, but not low enough to warrant insulin immediately. My doctors decided to try to use diet and oral medication to treat it initially. Their goal was to keep me off insulin for as long as possible, thinking this...

Can you help raise awareness of Diabulimia?

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2928363/ T1 is genetically different from LADA, LADA is just more similar to T1 than it is to T2. That also doesn't change the fact people with MODY, T3c and other forms of diabetes that are insulin dependent do not get acknowledged in the diabulimia...

What was your fasting blood glucose? (with some chat)

Morning! 6.9 for me, I barely slept last night, maybe 1-2 hours max. Getting ready for a long day of probably high and wonky bloodsugars, sigh. I'm sorry! The flu shot can definitely make you feel under the weather, but it should only last a couple of days (I'm usually feeling tons better after...

Can you help raise awareness of Diabulimia?

I saw this episode and while I was happy to see a documentary finally discussing this, I was extremely disappointed that their definition was "only type 1 diabetics can suffer from diabulimia". It felt like LADA, MODY, T3c and any other type of diabetic who has lost insulin production and is...
