    1 x Steak & Kidney Pud...

Hi , I'm still around, despite my type 2 diagnosis just over 12 years ago. When I eventually tried medication, about 8 years ago, I found that Gliclazide (40mg) suited me best. Just 1 tablet per day. Then in March they told me they were removing it from my repeat prescription. I wasn't happy...

    Recent review ...

Hi, I've not posted on here for a while, however, a couple of weeks ago I had my hbA1c results, which were equal to 6 , ( think the figures were 44?)...I thought that was o.k. However the nurse told me that I should stop taking my gliclazide, ( 1 x 40g tablet) because they didn't want my...

    Diabetic Retinopathy Screening

I live in pembrokeshire and since I was diagnosed as type 2 almost 7 years ago, I have had an annual retinopathy eye check arranged by N.H.S. Wales. I then usually get a letter about 2 or 3 weeks after the check informing me of the results. However, having had a check in April, this year, I...

    Gliclazide - 40mg

Hi, Many thanks for all your replies. I'm also wondering why, when people mention Gliclazide , they always say 80mg, tablets. I've been given 40mg and I only have to take ONE each morning.... I'm not complaining, if just one of these each day + my low carb diet keeps me on track I'll be...

    Gliclazide - 40mg

Hi, They tried to put me on Metformin, I never took any, because I find it very difficult to swallow tablets, especially very big ones! I found that I could control my type 2 with diet & exercise. (initially, anyway.)

    Gliclazide - 40mg

Hi everyone, It's quite a while since I posted on here...My recent A1c check was the highest one yet, equivalent to 8.8... Although diagnosed as type 2 over 6 years ago, I have avoided medication, (so far). I'm not overweight ( barely 9 stone). However, at this recent review, I was advised to...

introducing self to get rid of annoying message

Hi Shedges... Yes I'm assuming that you're referring to the annoying 'pop-ups' at the top of the page, reminding us to do this and that and check if your email is correct! I have an 'Ad blocker' on my computer, but they still appear! It never used to be like that and it was better then...

    Blood taken today...

Hi again... My review earlier today, (Friday 13th) wasn't quite as bad as I thought... First review for 18 months... Delay was my fault, apparently, as the system has been changed and it's now MY responsibility to arrange an appointment in 6 months time... D.n. tried to convince me to start on...

    Blood taken today...

Thanks for your reply, Ria... I may decide to just monitor, (daily) my B.g. readings and, hopefully reduce them over the next two weeks, by 'behaving myself'... Regards., Malc

    Blood taken today...

Hi, Earlier today I had several phials of blood taken, - HbA1c I was expecting, but not the additional ones,(4 altogether)...They appeared to cover every aspect of my body...(well almost). I hadn't realised just how long it had been since my previous A1c check. Apparently it was February...

    Sandals.....

Hi again, Many thanks for your replies and may I add that I'm certainly not offended by the 'light-hearted' posts on this thread, I welcome other peoples' opinions, providing they are good-natured... So, no problems there... My reasons for emphasizing the 'foot care /protection ' aspect, was...

    Sandals.....

I agree, people should wear what makes them comfortable... :) Many thanks for all your interesting replies, both for and against.... Although, to be honest, my main point of posing the question on this forum was to state that IMO using sandals without 'protecting the feet from the effects of...

    Sandals.....

Probably a contentious issue, but here goes..... We need to protect our feet, so, socks with sandals? It may not be the fashionable thing, but I'm comfortable and that's more important! There, I've said it! Malc.

A joke just for this forum?

One day a man goes into a pharmacy shop, reaches into his pocket and takes out a small bottle and a teaspoon. He pours some liquid onto the teaspoon and offers it to the chemist. "Could you taste this for me, please?" The chemist takes the teaspoon, puts it in his mouth, swills the liquid...

    Carbs in a Pint?
