    Pump showing signs of age!

Hi everyone, notice that my Medtronic pump is starting to look a bit sorry for itself. I only noticed last night when doing a set change that part of the top of the reservoir has broken off at some point or just gradually brittled away. It may have been like this for a while tbh but I haven't...

    Silhouettes insertion needle question

Hia - does everyone else notice that the needle sometimes pulls out and is as straight as a die and then others times the needle itself will have a bend in it? I just wandered if this happens to others and has anyone noticed a difference in BSs when the needle comes out with a bend in it? I...

Retinopathy letter results - good news

After showing some changes last year, this morning's letter has come back all clear with no retinopathy. Have to say, I needed that! I also didn't quite believe others, including DSN, who said that it wasn't always the case that they deteriorated and the results can come back clear after showing...

    Slightly shaky hand

I've been meaning to ask for a while. While resting my hand on the settee at night I notice that my right hand has a slight shake - nothing major but it's been going on for a while. I have been putting it down to using the iPad too much which is more than likely it, but recently I've thought...

    Continued acne and a goat!

A few of you may remember that I having been this ongoing battle with adult onset acne. It's worse on my neck, back and chest but also breakouts on my face around the time of my period. I've tried creams, long term antibiotics, including Roaccutane last year - unfortunately it sent my blood...

New pump info - good news

DSN just emailed me to let me know I'm getting the newly released Medtronic pump when mine runs out of warranty this September. Nice 50th birthday prezzy for me. Happy with this choice even it it wasn't one I made!

Pumps out of warranty - what happens to them?

I had a (nice) thought this morning. My pump is out of warranty later this year and I'm due an upgrade. Hoping I'll get the new Medtronic pump. Anyway, I just wandered if there was any chance we get to keep our old pumps as spares? Anyone been allowed to do this I wonder or do they go back to...

Fine dining lunch at JS restaurant in Penarth ...and low carb

We recently had a thread growing about low carb and fine dining restaurants. Well, for Christmas I bought hubby (and me of course!!) a Travelzoo voucher to go for the 5 course taster menu at James Sommerin's place in Penarth. Wow - 5 courses an amouse bouche and an extra dessert (tiny) and it...

    Blood sugars and gut feelings!

Hi - this happens to me infrequently, about 3 times a year, but I thought it worth sharing to see if this happens to anyone else. Was 4.2 before supper last night so I delayed bolus (I like to be above 5 before blousing). Had 45g carbs and measured bloods 30 mins after eating and still just 5.2...

Travelling to USA 1st time with pump

Hi, I have previously commented/asked for advice on threads regarding travel. Truth is I'm really stressing out about going to Florida next Sunday as I'm scared how my pump will function on the long flight and with the change in the hour when I get there. Are there any seasoned travellers out...

    Gatwick this morning and pump

There is still confusion out there! I walked through the metal detector and then was told, as I bleeped, that I had to go through the full body scanner. I explained that I mustn't and almost had to get my paperwork out. The gatwick staff member insisted that I'd got it wrong and it was the other...

    Medtronic question on reservoir connector

Hia - during my set change last night and I tried to half turn and click the connector on to the insulin reservoir after filling and it wouldn't click in like normal. Thought I'd got a faulty one so tried a second and the same thing happened. I didn't want to waste any more than I had to so I...

Rant, high BGs and a general moan

Think I could have posted this thread in numerous categories!! We had a gardner in yesterday to start to clear our 'jungle-like' garden and he lit the rubbish at around 4pm. (This isn't about the wrongs and rights of a garden fire BTW). Anyway I was already a bit stressed out at the smoke...

Medtronic new advice on taking loan pump abroad

I'm going to Greece in October and Medtronic have sent me this advice with my confirmation email of a spare pump. TBH, I'm a bit uncomfortable at chucking a £3k piece of medical equipment into my suitcase. I have loan pump insurance but even so I think it's more prudent that we carry them in...
