    Dr Almond

Yes it is expensive. A bread mix will make one loaf. It’s not great for toasting but if you need a ‘bread fix’ (brownie, granola or crisp bread) it’s a winner. We didn’t enjoy the pizza base and pasta mix so much. Look out for discount codes (15%) on their FB page. Current code is ‘Summer’...

No longer registered at a doctors!

I find it upsetting that your experience has been so bad that you feel the only way forwards is to ditch your GP. It’s not right that you feel this way and it’s not your fault. BUT the nature of this means you need to resolve the matter. As you have no other GP options you should consider...

    Metformin increase

Same as @Resurgam, I could not tolerate metformin. I've never had pains like it. I would be bent double in agony. We are not all the same and drugs really do work differently for different folk. Best of luck.

Well done @Erbie, you're on the start of your journey now, come back for support, there are lots of great people here who have helped me.

    Is being diagnosed T2 serious?

My wife has recently been diagnosed as T2, she was told to take Metformin and build up the dosage. She was not given a blood meter. I find this so very frustrating and I don't know how we are supposed to manage something we can not see? It's like we are told it is very serious, yet we are not...

    Retinopathy Reversal?

Some time ago I had the annual eye screening done and the result was that there is a change in my eyes. At the same time, and by coincidence, I have a bad cataract in my left eye. The right eye also has a cataract, but it doesn't affect my vision as yet. At the time, I was a little surprised...

    Next Step Loose Weight?

My bloods are much better controlled but my weight isn't shifting. And whilst that isn't really a problem, I would like to think about loosing weight. Is it as simple as loosing weight will give me better control with my BS and lead to fewer meds? I would love to hear from those that have...

    So how come...?

Great thread. I am overweight and I have been doing low carb for some time. My bloods have been so good that I have ceased taking one of my tablets (Gliclazide).

    Dr Almond

My top tip for the chocolate brownie (slab?) is to take a piece and cover it in double cream. Then mash the two together and it is totally amazing, like a super thick chocolate shake. I am thinking of freezing it next time, a sort of chocolate ice cream. I can not believe the products are so low...

One step forward, two steps back

I'm a fat bloke and I remind people, in a friendly manner, that if loosing weight was easy, we would all be skinny. Best of luck with your diet and getting to grips with diabetes.

    Dr Almond

Does anyone else use Dr Almond products? We use it all the time, it is expensive, but if you have a craving for bread, muesli or crackers, it is well worth looking into. We have found the pizza base and pasta not to our taste. My favourite is the fruit bread, just a small handful of sultanas...

    Can anyone explain please?

I feel for your husband. Getting BS down is challenging. I have been on a journey for years with trying most medications, including insulin, and not all medications are the same. I had my Gliclazide swapped by the GP and the new tablet did not work, in fact it made my BS worse. So be aware that...

I only drink Pepsi Max or similar and have done for decades.

Not me! I have just started going out cycling and that me dipping the proverbial toe in the water.

    10.9 2 hours after dinner

I'm no expert, but well done on loosing the weight. I understand your frustration with a one off reading, but keep the faith and try and not dive in to the ice cream tub next time, you're a very naughty boy. Keep at it pal.

    BS 24

Hi, I have been away but I am pleased to say that the LCHF diet is working a treat for me. Whats that? BS24?? Actually that is my wifes number from being diagnosed two months ago. Her blood meter average is now around 6.5. We put this down to my insightfulness thanks in part to this forum and...

    New and no clue

Taking control of diabetes is not easy, if it was, this forum would be empty. I didn't get on with my diabetic team and don't see them any more, but I do consult with my GP. Lots of good advice and information in this thread from @HSSS and @JoKalsbeek . I am embarking on a LCHF diet and the...
