Hi all Sorry if I only ever post when I want something but I'm struggling with things a lot at the moment. After suffering a string of bad night time hypos years ago I noticed that I had trouble concentrating. My brain simply wasn't functioning as efficiently as it was before. After a really...

    How do you sleep?

I've had a few blood tests and was diagnosed with ibs. Everything else came back ok. I'm really not happy with the ibs diagnosis because the gp told me it was all in my head, but I know thats not true, I just found the sypmtoms really hard to talk about. My stomach is bad enough that it keeps...

    How do you sleep?

I've posted before about how for the last 8 years I have had bad hypos in the night that I haven't woken up from. Each one left me ill enough that I couldn't leave the bed for a week and I lost a lot of my memory. The worst thing is that I dont know what caused them. I'm constantly fatigued and...

Feeling low when BS is normal

I've suffered from high and low blood sugars for the last few years, there is no pattern to why I suddenly go high or low without warning. The doctor has diagnosed me with IBS but I wonder if there is something more serious causing my blood sugar to rise and drop so randomly? Recently I have...

    Told to name complications

Hi thanks for all your replies. It's nice to know what you all think because I know I sometimes get upset at diabetic appointments too quick. Justfocus my bs has been a lot better the last 2 days, it's been between 5 & 7. I just hope it will stay that way now!

    Told to name complications

At my diabetic clinic I was recently asked to name all the complications caused by diabetes. This was the first sentence said to me. I was close to tears when the appointment started because I've been feeling so terrible. I didn't answer because I knew it would make me cry but the diabetes...

    Hello New here

I think the problem I have is that because I was diagnosed as a child it's always been assumed that I already knew everything, when I actually knew nothing because I was too young to remember it all at 1 year old! I've asked the diabetes staff to explain things better to me but I can never...

    Hello New here

Thanks justfocus I tend to eat really small portions because I'm always too thirsty to eat much. I'm normally ok with weetabix but i've had sugar free muesli this week and it's made me really high. I'll have a look at the lo carb diet now but I have to admit I've always been a bit wary of it.

    Hello New here

Thanks The nurse that told me to not do a lot of bloodtests has now left luckily. I've seen a different diabetes specialist every year since I was 18 and still haven't found one that will help me. I started going high a lot but everytime I reduced my insulin I would go really low. I had page...

How many of us have some memory loss?

When I was 18 I started having bad hypos in the night (about 4 a year). This went on for about 5 years. I wasn't aware they had happened until I woke up in the morning hardly able to move. I found that I started to find it difficult to remember things from a few weeks before the hypos occurred. I...

    Hello New here

Hi I've been checking this site for a while but have only just registered. I'm 27 and have had diabetes for 25 years. It will be nice to have people to chat to. I'm struggling to get my blood sugars steady and it's leaving me really tired (and grumpy!). The diabetes nurses don't understand at...
