    Meters

Got a TEE2 meter as it was free and wanted to check against my SD Codefree. TEE2 at 5.3 and SD at 6.4 is a little perplexing but no doubt down to tolerance, testing strips etc etc. Does make me wonder how true all tests are including the venerable hba1c?

    Latest hba1c result in

5.1% which is great as this confirms the trend since diagnosis in September 2016 - 7.7% at diagnosis and then 5.0%, 5.2% and now 5.1%. This last result is with a full 3 months off metformin. Thanks for the support and knowledge provided by this forum - essential reading for all Ds.

Not sure if this is new or just new to me - Moderator's signatures are delivering a consistent message around useful D information which is a good step forward. Apologies if this is old hat and I've not been paying enough attention lately!

    T2D "resolved"

Down to this forum I am now off medication:- Sep 16 (Diagnosis) - 7.7% ; Jan 17 (1000 mg Metformin) - 5.0%; Mar 17 (500 mg Metformin) - 5.2%. Another hba1c in June 17 to check all is OK. All done, in my case, by carb reduction and a bit of exercise. If you had told me this was feasible back in...

    Keeps cropping up .....

I keep coming across people on the Forum who need help to work the NHS. Is any guidance issued through the Forum to explain to new and less assertive members what they should expect from and how to get the best out of the NHS system? A good example where people are missing out is carb counting...

    Continuous Improvement?

Lay bare my naivety here - anybody in authority, government or medic, picking up customer feedback from this forum?

    It really does work!

Low carbs and exercise have got my HbA1c down to 5% or 31 mmol/mol in 3 months. Doctor was pretty impressed and thought perhaps too much control! Down to one Metformin and test again in 3 months. Cholesterol much improved also and no need to for Statins. Three cheers for the forum!

    Dry Mouth

Hello All - relatively new to this journey. Over the past 6 weeks I've got my BS down to around 5.2 average - abstinence and the little exercise I fit in. However, I continue to have a really dry mouth overnight and wake regularly to take on water. Is this usual when BS is lowered?

    Big thanks

Dear all - I set off on the Type 2 trail about 6 weeks ago and at that stage had no understanding whatsoever about diabetes. My contribution to the forum so far has been minuscule but the knowledge I have gathered from reading all kinds of posts has been immeasurable. I just wanted to commend...

Type 2 Advice for a newbie please

Hi Everyone Diagnosed a week ago as Type 2 and started on Merformin - 500mg a day to start. I'm scheduled to go up to 2/500mg a day today. Anyway, thought I'd make a start to testing myself today. First measure 2 hours after lunch came back at 5.7 mmol/L. I've been on a low calorie/low carb diet...
