    Glucomen aero 2x - iPhone

I suspect the answer is "It's an Apple thing". But I can't get my Glucomen meter to connect via NFC to my iPhone X. It used to work with an iPhone SE. And it definitely works with a Samsung Galaxy (Android). But the iPhone refuses to connect. Has anyone had any luck/tips? Thank you.

Libre 2 - need a reader to activate??

This is about the Freestyle Libre 2. Does anyone know if you also have to buy the reader as well as the sensors or does the iphone app now activate the sensor? The instructions on the sensor suggest that the phone now activates it without needing the reader but I dont want to open the pack...

hba1c - take tablets or not

I am having my hba1c in the morning. Am fasting as usual before it - grrrrr. I have never known however if I should take my metformin as normal when I get up. I usually don't because taking metformin without food aggravates the well-known side-effects but does anyone have any views whether I...

    Morning BSLs

I wonder if someone could help with a bit of advice. I have been diagnosed T2 for about 6 yrs now and up until the last 18 mths, my BSLs have been quite reasonable and my HbA1C has been about 6.5. Twelve months ago that hit about 7.5 and my most recent was 9.8. My diabetic nurse (not the best...

    Travelling with insulin

I am type 2 controlled by tablets (Metformin 3 x 500mg per day) however over the past two years my bsl has climbed up and up and in my most recent discussion with my doctor the prospect of going onto Insulin has been raised. My problem is I am away from home two or three nights a week and I...

    Whey protein based drinks

Has anyone got any experience with whey protein based drinks. I regularly see them in my local gym and wondered if anyone had tried them or had any info. The web has various testimonials etc and general info but I always prefer the advise of forum members on subjects like this. Many thanks.

    Sun-glare and sensitive eyes

For a number of years (similar to the time elapsed since diagnosis), I have noticed I am becoming more sensitive to sun-glare. Consequently I tend to wear good (dark) sunglasses. I have my regular retinopathy which is all-clear and I have discussed it with my optician who says that it could be...

    Goji berries

Read lots of posts and articles on the web re Goji berries. Am looking for snacks to eat during the day. The little and often approach to eating seems to work best for me and wondered if anyone had tried these. If you accept the blurb on the web, apparently it is good for regulating bsl. Any...

    Glycemic load - Excel spreadsheet

Whilst doing some research to get my head around GI and GL (having swapped arborio rice for pearl barley in a risotto and got a good result with my bsl) decided to google pearl barley and after a few links came across this. I found this webpage which lists the GL of a lot of basic foods. It is...

    Nuts

Anyone got any views or data on the pros and cons of eating nuts. I am so confused over the fats issue (good and bad fats) and the general trauma of cholesterol control that it is actually driving me nuts. I am a deteriorating Type 2; diagnosed about four years ago and on Metformin. I have quite...
