    Carbs V sugar question

Thank you all for your replies - they were helpful! At the moment, rather than go on a full blown low carb diet, I'm aiming to reduce my carbs and adjust my diet according and see how that goes. I'm a very fussy eater and always eaten my fair share of bread, potatoes, pasta etc :( thank you! Ann

Hi all, I'm a Type 2 on insulin from about 5 weeks ago, on Novarapid and Lantus. I'm reading avidly much of the info on this forum and now having info overload. My question is to have a low carb diet does that mean I take note of just the carbs amount and ignore the sugar content in foods...

    Insulin injection sites

Yes, I've been told to test before injecting the insulin and last thing at night, - so 4 x daily. There doesn't seem to be any problem in my getting the strips, so far but I was also allowed them to a limit when I was taking the tablets, as one of them could have taken me to a hypo if not...

Thanks for your reply - I am actually booked on a one day DESMOND course next Friday, so hopefully will be a bit more clued up after that :) I'm not sure about the nurse (she is the hospital diabetic team nurse), I did get the impression that she is a long experienced specialist in diabetes and...

Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

Yes, I realise that after reading it up on here and google search. I met with the hospital diabetic nurse and she is adamant I'm still type 2, I'm not totally convinced. She said that she had been a specialist in diabetes for many years now and even the doctors can say it is type 1 when really...

    Buying from shop

Thanks for the replies, I hadn't realised quite how much the differences between NHS Trusts were for giving test strips etc, I seemed to have been fortunate in the past when only on tablet medication :)

Introduce Yourself: Answer Some Personal Questions

Hi all, I was diagnosed diabetic over 10 years ago and never really been managing it well, first by diet, then tablets for about the last three years. Although I was seeing the GP diabetic nurse all through this time. A couple of weeks ago I was taken as an emergency admittance into A&E by...

    Buying from shop

Hi all, I've lurked around the site for some time now but I've just been 'upgraded' to taking insulin in the last week, so I've been reading the site a lot more and I'm sorry if I've post this in the wrong part of the forum. My question is why is so much available in the shop ie pens, needles...
