    It works. Yes it does.

Diagnosed in December 2016 at A1c of 90. 6 months ago was down to 46. Just been told its now 37. So non-diabetic numbers. Now need to work harder at shifting some more weight as its levelled off a bit. I'm hoping dropping the Gliclazide will make a difference, and not push the BG back up much.

    Odd day, any thoughts?

So, I've been in fairly good control recently, BG in the 6's and 7's with the odd excursion lower and higher. But then after a physically busy day (digging in the garden and working on the cars) got a BG of 9.0. Now I know exercise can push BG up but 2 hours after dinner I got 3.3. Didn't...

    Another success.

OK, so I'm not 'cured' but what a difference. Saw the GP today to get my latest HbA1c results, she was really pleased. 90 at diagnosis, 52 today. I've lost 10kg in those three months. It was her (not my designated GP who recommended the eat well plate) who pointed me to LCHF. She knows it works...

Nationwide flex plus travel insurance and Diabetics.

I'm looking into changing bank accounts and the Nationwide flex plus looks interesting as I'll use most of the package. The one I'm not sure about is travel insurance. There's a number to call to check, but does anyone know already if they will accept diabetics. I'm T2 on Metformin and...

Don't worry about the odd high number?

I've been doing well on my BG readings recently. Saying I'm only four weeks since diagnosis with a BG of 20, I'm now generally 5.x to 8.x. Had a fright today getting 10.1 after lunch having been 6.9 before. Was worried because I had some homemade burgers (not made by me) that I didn't know what...

Should my blood tests be fasting ones?

Had my third blood test yesterday. The first, which identified the diabetes I was specifically told no need to fast. The others haven't been mentioned so haven't been fasting beforehand. What's normal? I'm assuming the tests are to determine HbA1c but I haven't been told that either.

Blood glucose app for smartphone or mac?

I've done a bit of a search but not seen anything. At the moment I'm using the my lifestyle section of this website to log my BG levels. It's manual though. I use a couple of meters (one that I get script strips for that I use when I can, the other I pay for when I need the small size /...

    Diagnosed a week before Christmas.

So I've known for a couple of weeks that I'm T2. Still learning lots. Taking 500mg Metformin and 40mg Gliclazide. The advice from the GP surgery is mixed, having seen two GPs plus the diabetic nurse, each of which contradicted the others. Numbers are down from what they were generally staying...
