How to make a good near zero carb coffee?

It's really frustrating when people, especially doctors, fail to equate sugar and carbs as if they aren't equally bad for your blood sugars. Great post. Good point about the diet soda and sweeteners. When you trick your body into thinking it's just ingested something sweet, and it releases...

How to make a good near zero carb coffee?

As a male, I try to avoid soy-based beverages (boosts estrogen levels which harms testosterone apparently), but I make my cappucino froth using a combination of coconut oil, cashew milk, and a teaspon of cocoa powder and it's terrific. Tastes like a dessert! Lovely.

Reduced carbohydrate intake improves type 2 diabetics' ability to regulate blood sugar

I remember reading about how the food rationing states-side during the Great Depression actually boosted lifespans, temporarily. I used to think fat-shaming was part of the solution, until I realized that doctors and regulatory bodies such as the FDA are much more responsible for the current...

Reduced carbohydrate intake improves type 2 diabetics' ability to regulate blood sugar

I'm surprised this is even news at this point. We've all known this for a while now. It helps to "think like a pancreas". Increased carb intake = increased insulin production (in type 2s) or injection requirement (in type 1s) = increased weight and increased sugar variance and increased insulin...

    Daniel Darkes

I also came back here to check in on him (and read about the news here which is IMO the main reason to drop in). He's not the only proven case of type 1 full remission...

    Dexcom g6

Practical suggestion: use bluetooth earbuds for private beeps. Better suggestion: ditch your mate. He's very low-quality. This is life and death stuff and if he doesn't take that seriously, ditch him. I've dumped more than my share of girlfriends over the years for not taking my type 1...

    Laser eye surgery

Really? How come? Doesn't it just take an hour? I was thinking of getting it done, I started getting blurry vision in the distance and it's annoying enough to fix. My eye doctor visit told me it has nothing to do with being type 1, no retinopathy or other issues whatsoever, just getting older.

Fasting-Mimicking Diet Promotes Ngn3-Driven β-Cell Regeneration to Reverse Diabetes

Apparently there's also a way to measure beta cell function using a simple urine test and the ratio of two non-c-peptide numbers, which are apparently easier to measure. I can't remember it off hand. Got it stored on my blog somewhere. But I couldn't find a supplier for it. If I could test my...

Fasting-Mimicking Diet Promotes Ngn3-Driven β-Cell Regeneration to Reverse Diabetes

I look forward to hearing your review. I'm a bit low on funds otherwise I'd try prolon too. But whatever you do, get a baseline c-peptide reading before doing it. Whenever you wake up (fasting since supper the night before), before getting your blood drawn, just eat a pastry or something, and...

T2 vs T1 stigma - anyone else feel a bit 'shamed' for having T2?

I think a lot of thin type 2s probably overloaded their pancreases, without realizing it. It's not really anyone's fault for following their doctor's ill-advised "Eat Well Plate". There are studies showing that even perfectly fit, non-diabetics have a problem metabolizing a lot of carbs, and...

Fasting-Mimicking Diet Promotes Ngn3-Driven β-Cell Regeneration to Reverse Diabetes

That's interesting. But I think you still need to simply look at c-peptide levels before and after. I've checked mine again and again and my highest level was 0.51 in 2015 (on all kinds of drugs like GLP-1 and so on) and now it's 0.044. It's possible I didn't test scientifically enough using the...

Eating alone and injecting in a restraunt how?

I try to be discreet too, but find myself caring less and less over time. Junkies are not my problem and how society treats them or views their hobby is not my fault. I've felt far more self-conscious about someone walking into a public restroom and seeing me inject myself at the sink than I...

Eating alone and injecting in a restraunt how?

I'd tell that nosy busybody to mind their own business and get lost. In those exact words. The needle isn't going into them, ***, they should grow up. I don't inject in the public toilets due to hygiene. I used to shoot through my shirt into my belly but ruined too many shirts that way from the...

Not Diabetic, But Wondering If I Might Be On My Way There?

It makes me weep for the human race if someone doesn't drink liquid when they're thirsty. It just has to be water though. If you drink a sugary drink you're only making things worse. I was chugging OJ in the days leading up to my DKA. I was literally starving to death and every sip only made my...

Dan Darkes, Type 1 Diabetes Reversal

This latest bit of news seems to like it can't be a coincidence with Dan's extreme exercise reversing his type 1: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/news/2018/sep/exercise-could-extend-honeymoon-period-five-fold-after-type-1-diabetes-diagnosis-91710031.html If you exercise you extend your honeymoon...

Type 1 With A Fear Of Needles

This makes me so angry. Not at her killing herself out of vanity, but because of her parents and doctors not taking action to prevent her self-harm after the first coma proved she was unable or unwilling to manage her disease. This was a preventable suicide and from what I've read, those...

High Blood Sugars Despite No Carbs

Write down exactly what you eat every day, for a week, and then come back here and post it, and we'll tell you why your sugars are high. Stress does raise sugars but not constantly, it comes and goes. I suspect, despite not eating carbs, you're ingesting sugar present in whatever food you're...

Low Carb ..its Changed My Week

On low-carb you should be able to get off insulin quite rapidly if you are type 2. Taking insulin only makes insulin resistance worse, and you will keep gaining weight. It's not a solution, at all. Just cut out most carbs and get off the meds. Check out the videos from Dr Fung, he is really an...

Low Carb ..its Changed My Week

One thing that really irks me is when non-diabetics think a potato or a piece bread is a significantly healthier choice than, say, a candy bar. The second a piece of bread hits your tongue it turns into sugar. My dad used to think that way, and I kept having to tell him, no, I'll take more...

Low Carb ..its Changed My Week

Yes, of course people still eat carbs, and that's just reality that has to be taken into account. But Bernstein method can deliver near-perfect sugars without a CGM which is expensive and not many people have it, plus in a sense a CGM's monthly costs are then effectively a 160 dollar tax on carb...
