Very high protein yogurts & shakes

Having just got out of hospital following surgery for esophageal cancer, I'm looking for a very high protein yogurt or smoothie that is low in volume but protein packed, as I can only eat very small amounts, obvs it has to be super low in carbs, not only for my type II LCHF but for my newly...

Anyone else had Librelink issues with heart monitors?

Does anyone know if having a cpx test (cardio-pulimenary cycling text) might affect the librelink sensor - I was all wired up and wirelessly connected to a machine measuring my heart/lungs etc...since then (this morning) my librelink is giving odd readings.

    A tale of oatmeal

At my DN visit on Thursday, she suggested I try to put some heavier carbs back in my diet.....I thought after 5 months of no oats, grains etc I thought I'd see if I could tolerate some porridge. Decided to have some in the evening as my tolerance seems better at that time. Anyway..... Made it...

I love my healthcare practitioners !

I read a lot of stories on this forum about DN and GP's who are less than useless when it comes to managing diabetes with anything other than drugs and more drugs and recommendations of eating pasta and porridge with every meal ! Thought it would be nice to share the outcome of my first DN...

    Chicken or egg?

In the last couple of days my BSL has been slightly more elevated than normal and I've also been feeling jittery, stressed and easily irritated! Is it the levels that are making me feel like this or the feelings affecting the levels?? (By elevated I mean low 8's versus mid/high 6's - and no...

    Type 2 Trusting my monitor

This morning, I had a FBS of 6.1 - which for me so far is low ! huzzah I thought - then decided to check again. In the space of less than five minutes my BS tested as 6.1, 7.1, 7.8, 7.5, and 7.3.......I'm a bit new to this so was wondering is this normal, is it the machine (I've done a QC test)...

Type 2 Can fasting raise Blood sugar levels?

I decided to do a fast day today, and lasted until 3.30 pm when I felt a bit jittery and thought, as I'd been doing my tax return, that my brain needed some food! Anyway I tested at 5.5 which is good for me, so I thought I'd have a handful of nuts (literally about 6 which would not usually...

    Best time to eat....

Recently my fasting levels have been rising, although I've not changed from my low carb diet.....this could be stress, but I've also noticed that sometimes my levels taken just before bed are also higher (even if I haven't eaten since about 8pm.) I was wondering, should I be concentrating my...

Was really getting on well with my freestyle sensor - loving the freedom to scan anywhere ! Only had it on since Friday and this luchtime got changed and the ruddy thin pinged off !! Libre android app

I'm sure the answer to this is somewhere on the forum but I can't find it! Just stated using the freestyle libre sensor scanned with the app (on android), and it appears to be working fine. However, am I just getting readings only when I scan, and if so what's the difference between this and a...

    First Three month check

Had my 'first' three monthly check-up. My doctors was so pleased with me she gave me a hug! She said I'd done really well and that everything was going in the right direction. She didn't appear phased by the testing 8 times a day or the LC diet ! (she's newly graduated as a GP which I think...

    Atkins Shakes - opinions please

Anyone else tried the Atkins pre-made shakes? I've had the strawberry one and it's rather nice and doesn't seems to effect my blood sugar at all (on testing after 1.5 hours, however, might it be the cause of my increased fasting level over the last couple of days ( I have only drunk the shake at...

Anyone seen the documentary What the Health (netflix)??

It entirely negates everything on this forum - and more to the point everything I'm experiencing in my own weight loss and BS control on the low carb diet - apparently it's not sugar and carbs that's the problem it's fats and animal proteins ....arrrgh ! Don't you just hate all the contradictory...
