North East & North West LIVERPOOL?!?

I don't live on the Wirral, it is about 40 mins from me, I live near Liverpool John Lennon Airport! The Wirral would be ok if it was like once a month or something though so could be worth looking into! Just wouldn't fancy that journey too often! x

North East & North West LIVERPOOL?!?

Oh god no, the thought of setting something up makes me want to be sick! I'm nowhere near outgoing or confident enough for that haha! I'd like to just turn up somewhere and slot in unnoticed and gradually join in maybe! Thanks for the idea though, I will also have a look for posters! My clinic...

North East & North West LIVERPOOL?!?

I know all about Liverpool as a place, I've lived here my whole life (33 years) but in that time I've only met 2 diabetics and only 1 in my age range :arghh: gets a bit lonely sometimes, would love to know some more!! x

Strong question- what do you think caused your diabetes (type 1)

My mum had been recently diagnosed with an illness and was very sick and whilst she was in recovery we were in a pretty bad car crash (not our fault, man on motorbike doing 70-odd mph on a 30mph road, didn't spot us in time), a couple of months after this I ended up in a diabetic coma. No one in...

    Advice needed -slightly complicated

Have you had your thyroid checked? Might be worth looking into Graves Disease, you seem to have a lot of the symptoms.

    Ankle Swelling

Did you ever find a reason/solution to this? I'm suffering with the exact same issue so badly the past few months, have had all kinds of tests done and found nothing?!!

    Struggling to cope.

I feel your pain to some extent - I have support but the things I struggle with seem to go beyond any support on offer which is frustrating! Do you have a team to help you at all? X

    Switching to Tresiba

I recently changed from lantus to tresiba myself and was having some issues but have now split my dose into 2 - half in the AM e.g. 7am and half later on e.g. 1pm (times vary but you could split it to suit you) It seems to have helped a lot with the night time hypos! X

    Insulin allergy - multiple insulins

https://afrezza.com/ apologies if this has already been mentioned or isn’t suitable but have you ever heard of this insulin that is inhaled? It may be worth a look into x

Getting high glucose after intense exercises

Meant to include this link it makes an interesting read - not sure if it's relevant to everyone but maybe some? https://diabetesstrong.com/why-some-types-of-exercise-can-make-your-blood-sugar-increase/

    High levels

I'm a qualified metafit coach and I find when I do it, my BG always shoots up in the first 10-15 mins but either comes down and levels off or even goes too low in the hour or so afterwards! I've found being very careful with insulin afterwards is helpful, also check the sugar in your cereal bar...

    Telling people you're diabetic...

I've been diagnosed for 20 years and STILL struggle explaining it to people, even people who have known me for a long time! So don't worry for feeling a bit awkward about discussing it with them. My favourite is when people find out I'm diabetic and they ASSUME I must have been overweight at...

    Hypo

Would it be possible for you to set a couple of alarms through the night to check your glucose levels match the readings given? Another idea could be to try to go to bed with slighter higher readings than normal (around the 8-12mmol range nothing too crazy) just to see if it prevents you...

    Novorapid... not so rapid ?

I love novorapid I’ve tried some others over the years to compare but I always end up going back to it! My long acting has changed 4 times which can have an effect and also I noticed that the novorapid acts differently depending on what time I do my basal, I currently take tresiba first thing...

    Blood sugars and driving.

It’s actually illegal to drive at 4 or below for diabetics (not sure if there’s any exceptions), as driving below 4 is considered not fit to control a vehicle. I’m referring to type 1 insulin dependent though like I said I’m not sure if it differs for other types xx

Meal replacement shakes - avoiding spikes

I have tried loads of different shakes over the years I love them, although I buy powder not the ready mixed shakes, not sure which you are having? I have found when I buy them I make sure to check the label or look online to choose ones with the lowest amount of sugar per 100g powder, this is...

    Basal Insulin Doses

I’m on 10 units of tresiba every morning, I started on 12 but was having hypos through the day. I think it varies from person to person as others have said xx

    New people

Hiya, I’m a bit older - 31 but I wouldn’t exactly call myself “mature” or “adult” haha! But happy to have a gab if you fancy it :) been type 1 since I was 10 years old!
