    Tickling feet when high,

Tickly feet and hands were the first symptoms that made me realise there was a problem - namely Type 2. So I went to the doctor. I've never had it since - the medication has always kept my blood sugar sufficiently low to avoid the tickles.

    Sharps bin!

I get my bins on prescription from my GP. I dispose of full bins at my Diabetes Clinic (not my GP)>

    Sugar Free Meringues

Sugar free meringues sounds ike a contradiction in terms. If they have no sugar, they aren't meringues!

    sugar free biscuits

I think so called diabetic biscuits are always awful, not worth considering. Peobably made of lo-carb cardboard. Folk give me them for Christmas - I wish they wouldn't waste their money.

    Pens - Consistent?

A daft TYPO in my original post - I am of a course, a Type 2! Sorry.

    Pens - Consistent?

I wonder if any of you have wondered if the potency of the insulin delivered by each pen is consistent?? I'm a Type 1 and squirt myself at bedtime, at present 16 units, and also take slow release Metformin and Gliclazide. I eat at much the same time in the evening and rarely have anything...

    breakfast

Vicky - thanks for your post. My weight has been very stable for several years, but I would love to weigh a stone or so less. I have struggled with this for years, but weight loss has been negligable. I just can't work out why breakfast is so sacrosanct. Varying my breakfast is about the only...

    breakfast

I find agave IS okay. The whole breakfast situation interests me. Historically, I have never eaten much breakfast, and I find doing without it is the easiest way to reduce my total food intake. I find that if I DO have breakfast, I only want my lunch sooner; if I have no breakfast I can last...

    Honeymoon Period

Beth, I don't understand the question. Please be a bit more specific. Best wishes - L.

    What BG meter

My local diabetes clinic recently gave me a meter (when I moved onto injecting as well as pills), and when my finger pricker packed up, I rang Bayer, and they sent me a meter and pricker for free - so now I have 3 meters! I get the Accuchek strips on prescription; I do about one test a day...

    Errectile Dysfunction

The dose is marked on the pill, it's on your prescription, and on the box. 10mg is not the maximum - I've been using 20Mg for literally years!

    Errectile Dysfunction

Tattyjacket - are you sure about 2.5 Mg?? I thought Cialis only came in 10Mg and 20Mg sizes. I get 8 20Mg tabs every 8 weeks. Two or three times that would be much better - you could then be at the ready continuously, and still way below what seems to be the max allowed dose (I tab every 24...

    Errectile Dysfunction

It's not libido that's the problem! The desire is there all right, but the equipment goes on strike. To go back to the original post, I also have found that things don't work as well if I'm lying on my back. If I turn onto my side, and face the object of my libido (!) I seem to function...

    Errectile Dysfunction

I was diagnosed Type 2 about 15 years ago, and ED appeared at much the same time. The first treatment I used was penile injections - very effective, and as the need is great, nothing like as daunting as you might think. Then Viagra came on the scene, and worked well for me. And then - Cialis...

    Newly started Metformin

In my early days on metformin, I found it pretty useless on its own. And one tablet sounds like a completely lost cause. Three tablets a day of metformin made me feel really weak and ill - I could barely function. The answer at that stage was without doubt gliclazide plus slow release...

Are their any Radio Hams who are diabetic

I'm Laurie, G0MRL, from near Bolton. Good in any callbook including qrz.com. Type 2 for getting on for 15 years, recently on insulin overnight. Not very active at present, but have all bands from 160m (not great) to 23cm. Also GB2RS newsreader, mainly on vhf.

    New to insulin

Hello Lacey Susan! My experience with Humulin 1 started about 3 months ago, when in spite of medication rather like yours, my HbA1c had hit just over 8. I've been diagnosed for more than ten years. In my case, the diabetes clinic in Bolton (really good people there) left me on Gliclazide...

    New on this forum.

Hello! I've just registered on this site. It seems a very slow connection although I have a fast one at this end. My name is Laurie and I've been a type 2 diabetic for around 12-15 years. I'm now on tablets and bedtime insulin, as of last October, and now 71 years old. Interests Ham Radio...
