    Type 2 Insulin and potatoes

Update: I took my insulin exactly 5 mins before my roast dinner with mashed potatoes this evening. After 2 hours my BG is 0.1 higher than my pre-dinner BG. Hopefully it's not a one off. Delighted [emoji38] thank you!

    Type 2 Insulin and potatoes

Funny I was told 15 minutes to work and sake hour and half to peak. No I'm not on a pump but I test regularly and still can't make sense of my readings at times. Even I eat exactly the same dinner, with roughly the same BG before and similar level of activity daily I still get vastly differing...

    Type 2 Insulin and potatoes

Oh no that's really tough. I think the slimster burger buns are the only carbs that don't spike me. I'm very much looking forward to a roast dinner tomorrow. I love mash too!

    Type 2 Insulin and potatoes

Thanks @jaywak I always give the full dose so I thought maybe that's where I was going wrong. Or my timing was off because I'm injecting the right amount of insulin. I know a lot of diabetes is trial and error.

Thanks @sleepster You are lucky you don't spike. I'll try taking my full dose a few minutes beforehand [emoji1696]

    Type 2 Insulin and potatoes

Hi all, I was hoping to get advise on how best to manage my BG and eat mashed potatoes with butter. I'm very slim and trying to put on weight and I really miss mashed potatoes. I'm T2 and have been told to take 4 units of Novorapid 10/15 mins before dinner. I'm thinking should I split the...

    Good app

Hi, I use the Hedia app with my Contour XT. Just hold the monitor over your phone to transfer data or there's the option to sync or input manually.

    Lows while in the sun

That's good to know, thank you. I haven't seen the sun since lol but hopefully it's nice next week. I still have a lot of learn, I've pretty much been at home in my little bubble since I started on insulin.

    Android App Recommendation Please?

I've just started using the Hedia app. One feature I really like is that you can calculate how much insulin to take based on your BG readings and planned carb intake. Its free and no ads. I used to use Contour XT app which is good but basic info.

    Lows while in the sun

Oh really? I wasn't aware of that. I rarely wake during the night to test but I'll test regularly throughout the day. Thanks for the heads up I've lots of snacks in my handbag depending on what I need and I've ordered a cooling wallet for my insulin for when I'm out and about. I can't wait to...

    Supplements

I've tried both Berberine and Chromium, neither of which appeared to have any effect on my BG. I tried them separately too but same result or should I say no result. I take D3, B vitamin complex and fish oil.

    Lows while in the sun

Morning, I have a real fear of hypos they knock me for six so I know that doesn't help. I always carry Lift and test regularly. I need to push myself more to get out and about. 6 months of lockdown doesn't help either. Thanks Jaylee

    Lows while in the sun

I was talking to my clinic, she advised me to reduce my Novorapid in the sun and said the sun speeds up my metabolism, I already have a high metabolism. It's not fun at all but I know so much of diabetes care is trial and error. Or at least that's been my experience so far. Thanks for you...

    Lows while in the sun

Thanks Jaylee, You're right it's probably best I call my clinic and get their advice. There haven't been many hot days so this is a relatively new issue for me. I'm looking forward to getting outdoors after a long time at home and the lows are really making me anxious about day trips...

    Lows while in the sun

Hi everyone, I'm T2 (still waiting on tests) on Novorapid and Lantus since the end of Sept last year. I've noticed on hot days that my BG falls quite dramatically. Eg I was in the sun for an hour at the weekend, had 32g carbs for lunch and gave myself 3 units of Novorapid and my BG halved in...
