    Migraines

Since I have managed to get my levels down to near-normal levels I have had 3 migraines in the last 6 weeks, after not having had one for donkey's years. I not sure if this is :- a) coincidence b) the gliclazide c) my lower levels Nothing else has changed really. My GP said yesterday that I...

Things I wish I'd known when I was diagnosed with T2........

It occurred to me that it might be an idea to start this thread as a place for newly disgnosed Type IIs to pick up the most useful (although not necessarily massively important) tips for making life bearable:- So, I'll start with:- If you can't bear tea without sugar, try a spoonful of...

Who ever would have thought it possible... I am finally down to "normal" levels. And this on the day when I discovered Thornton's Turkish Delight bars. My happiness is complete!

    Dumplings

Any one tried making dumplings with soya flour? I fancied goulash and caraway dumplings for tea (as the weather is more like November than July) and thought I might try them with Soya, or maybe half and half with stoneground? Thanks :)

When do you take your Gliclizide?

My dose has just been increased to 80mg a day which my GP wants me to take in one go in the morning. I'm actually splitting it into 40mg x 2 taken with breakfast and then later in the day (not sure yet if it should be evening meal, or bedtime) as even this makes me feel a bit heady in the late...

    Is this true?

My GP has just told me that body fat is converted back into blood glucose by your liver....

Just a thought about super low readings....

As some of you know I have REALLY struggled to get my levels down from diagnosis and finally they are going in the right direction, albeit slowly! I know it's going to take time, and I shall have to continue to be careful with what I eat AND keep up with the exercise to achieve "normalish"...

    a passable snack!

I saw a recipe the other day for kale crisps, and thought I'd give them a go when I saw bags of ready prepared kale in the supermarket, and they're surprisingly nice! Take a large handful of ready prepared kale and put in a bowl. Add about 2 teaspoons of chili oil and a good sprinkling of salt...

    Metformin making BGs go up???

OK, it's official. Since I increased to 3 x 500mg SR a day last Friday, my levels have been creeping up. I thought it may be a blip to start with, but looking at my graph I am now in no doubt. The same thing happened when I got to 3 x 500 of the standard Metformin, but I thought it might be the...

Over the last few days I've had several posts just vanish! I suspect there's a problem with the server that the board is hosted on, so I thought I'd better mention it. Thanks!

does this make sense/ring any bells?

I think I may finally be starting to see a pattern emerge with my BG and would greatly appreciate any comments :) I suspect my BG has been very high for a long time, probably mid 20's if not higher. I work away from home a lot and I'm not really a "visiting the GP" type, but in fairness I...

The New Carbing Support thread - all welcome!

After 2 weeks of a low GI diet as advised by my GP, and my levels steadily rising, I went low carb on the 17th April as I needed to get my levels down fast for a cataract op that should have happened tomorrow - it was postponed this afternoon! I've been doing a minimum of an hour of the...

sweet tea response - a bit confused!

I've been doing low carb or the last 10 days or so in an attempt to get my BG down sufficiently for a cataract op tomorrow. I was only diagnosed recently and my GP is't being terribly helpful considering I went in with a fasting BG of 19! The low carb diet combined with a heap of exercise has...

How can I lower my BG? It's being very stubborn!

Hello @ all :) I was diagnosed Type 2 about 3 weeks ago after a spot test which returned about 23! Somewhat of a surprise to me as I'd not really had any symptoms and felt very well. GP did fasting bloods which came back at 19, and then the 3 month thingy which showed about 12. I've been on...
