    Pregnancy questions

I have 2 grown-up "children" (in their forties). I had no problems conceiving. It was not easy controlling my diabetes (type 1) during the pregnancy. I spent 4 weeks in hospital before the births and had caesareans both times, three weeks before the due date. Both babies were over 4 kg. I'm sure...

How long have you had T1

Type 1 for 60 years this year. I was diagnosed at a time when there were no pens, no pumps, no really pure insulins, no blood sugar meters, just glass syringes that had to be sterilised. I'm still here and hoping to avoid covid.

Getting Dizzy Spells When Standing Up

Agree with the others. I have had the same problem and my GP advised me to wear support tights which has helped a lot. Just an idea but you should probably also see your doc.

    Me Cataract Op Aaaarg.

Glad things went well this time. Like you said, no-one should be frightened of the op: I had no problems despite being terrified, though I admit to holding a nurse's hand so hard I felt I had to apologise to her afterwards

Travelling through time zones affecting sugar

Maybe you were more active when you were on holiday and therefore needed less long-acting insulin or perhaps it's more stressful coming back. Perhaps you need to increase it again. Just a thought: lot's of things can affect your blood sugars. Don't beat yourself up about it: it takes time and...

    Me Cataract Op Aaaarg.

I'm glad to hear you have recovered from what must have been a horrifying experience. To be honest, i'm glad I didn't read about your op before I had cataracts on both eyes operated on a few years ago. I was absolutely terrifed at the time, being a bit of a wimp, but everything passed off...

    Switch from Lantus to Tresiba

No side effects so far but I am still trying to sort out the dose. I was in England last week so out of my normal routine. Now I am back home I am going to concentrate on the task but it looks as though I need less than the combined dose of Lantus I was using previously.

Do your insulin ratios change much?

I agree with all the above. I was always told I was a "brittle diabetic" but never really knew what it meant, except that I noticed that a half unit of basal could affect the levels disproportionally. Anyway, after over 50 years of diabetes, I am more or less sorted though like everyone I have...

Do your insulin ratios change much?

I agree it does seem to be unusual. I haven't experienced it though I do have variations depending on stress, time of day, etc, etc. Sometimes if the long-acting and short-acting are both being changed at the same time, it's difficult to know what is going on. Do you ever monitor the blood sugar...

    Switch from Lantus to Tresiba

To avoid confusion: Sorry I meant basal not bolus in the above. Stupid error.

    Intense concentration

I've also noticed that my blood sugar goes down if I'm concentrating hard. Part of the problem is of course that I notice tha fall later than I would normally because my brain is otherwise occupied. I would agree though that everyone is different.
