Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

I was told by my GP not to test when he told me I had diabetes. I bought my own meter and got my sugars down to pre diabetes. Now 4 years later my eyesight felt wrong so I tested myself and my sugars are high. I requested an AC1c which is 64. I wish I had carried on testing even if it was only...

Research Explores Impact Of Red Blood Cell Damage In Type 2 Diabetes

Funny that you said about a quick menopause. I had the same experience, but I'd say more like 2 months... hubbie wouldn't agree, he says I've been moody. I wonder if low carb advances the menopause.

    anyone tried these

Yes they are OK. They need to be rinsed to remove the smell, they are a bit rubbery, but worth an occasional munch.

DVT and possible post thrombotic syndrome

Seek medical advice. My husband says that all exercise helps but he still has to wear compression socks fairly often. Losing weight is helping. His veins were permanently damaged by DVT. I would add that he also suffered pulmonary embolism whilst he was not on thinners and I'm lucky he is still...

    Prediabetic + High(ish) Blood Pressure

Me too. I have been following lchf since December. My blood pressure and sugars react badly to stress, even low level. Imo doctors are quite good with blood pressure, so if your gp advises blood pressure tablets I'd go with it. The medication won't stop your body from getting the benefit from...

Have you been told not to test your blood sugars?

I wonder if it's time for another petition? So much more research has come out about "reversing" diabetes.

    Morning readings

We seem to be following the same numbers. I also had a similar Hba1c of 55 in December and have dropped to 41. I'm also not seeing my fbg dropping. I've been sticking to moderate low carbs and lost 1.5 stone but weight loss has slowed to a trickle too.

Type 2s: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning? (very low chat level)

How annoying, still knowledge is power. One more fact for the armoury.

    Weekly weigh in - Fridays

Yes frustrating but better than moving in the wrong direction. My loss is also slow, but is has speeded up since I started using an app to track what I eat. I'm still doing lchf but I'm checking that the fat and protein don't push up my calories over 1600. I'm losing 2 or 3 pounds a week at the...

    Am I diabetic or prediabectic

I've got my review coming up. My GP didn't give me the T2 label possibly being kind. In my review I plan to insist on the diagnosis because I've had sight problems and some strange sensations. Although I accept that my Ac1 at 50 was not dramatic, I've read that some t2s with moderate glucose can...

    Low carb diet

I find that when fasting my bg goes up a bit. I don't fast for long so overall I feel the small temporary rise in bg is OK for me because I need to lose weight. Everyone is different but it could just be that with such low carbs your body thinks you are fasting. You could Google Jason Fung to...

    confused with the numbers game

That's hard. Im doing moderate low carb, 50 to 100, depending on what I fancy. When I am hungry, which is rare now I munch on 8 almonds. It works for me. I've also tried double cream and butter, they also worked but I prefer almonds. My advice is to remind yourself that munching carbs will set...
