    An Explosive Situation !

Not sure where to post this but here seems as good as any as I'm Type 2. I'm partial to sugar free mints and am careful how many I have as I know they have laxative properties but I've been fine with them. My usual ones weren't available so I bought some Smints, they're in a small tin, fifty in...

Okay, thanks both for your quick replies. I did tell the optician what I had assumed re the diabetic tests and told him I belonged to this forum, he suggested I post for information in case anyone else thought the same as me :)

    A little bit confused..

I went to Boots Optician this morning for an eye test, not used their opticians before. The last time I went for an eye test [not a diabetic one] was three years ago, the reason being I thought my annual diabetic tests would pick up any problems whether diabetes related or not. Anyway, the...

    Who's Correct..?

Mine are fine with raspberries too dancer :) Bbbut I didn't know that American and UK listings were listed differently as this is the first time I've Googled for a 'general' result. I find it quite worrying...am I the only person who didn't know this ? I'm always assured by supermarket packets...

    Who's Correct..?

Just looked, Brunneria. Fibre on both ASDA and Sainsbury says 2.5g per 100g . On Google, says 7g ~ must be American as spelled 'Fiber' ! Extremely confusing for everyone especially if newly diagnosed and you're checking on Google before buying. I'm 19 years diagnosed and even I found it...

    Who's Correct..?

This is for Type 1 or 2....Perhaps I'm being thick but I don't understand... Bought some raspberries from ASDA...packet said 4.6 carbs per 100 grams ~ excellent ! Something made me google 'Raspberry Nutrients' ~ info said 12g carbs per 100 grams of which sugars 4.4 . So I checked Sainsbury...

How long did you think you had diabetes before diagnosis?

I think I had it for about nine months as was terribly tired and losing weight, I needed to lose weight so thought nothing of it, in fact was rather pleased ! Was diagnosed when I had a smear test and urine test as a matter of course. That was almost seventeen years ago now. Still only on two...

    Shop bought bread

Hi farmer's wife and welcome. Lidl do protein rolls, very large, 39p. Also low carb bread, LivLife, is available in Waitrose. You can also get Burgen Soya and Linseed bread in most supermarkets, 11g carbs per slice, I can't tolerate that one but I know many in here can. Happy hunting !

I have a codefree meter and find I have to place my finger facing upwards [rather than downwards on previous meters] under the edge of the strip for it to take the blood in.

    Low carb - Need advice

I discovered this forum about the same time as I was prescribed Metformin. My bs levels were rising, not surprising after so many years of following the Eatwell Plate advice which was what I was given then, I think we all were back then. Wanted to look around to see what other diabetics were...

    Low carb - Need advice

Hi ni62, you are similar to me, nearly 17years of Type 2 and only on Metformin. I have lowish carbed for the last two/three years and found its helped me. The main carb culprits [apart from the usual sweet stuff you'll originally have been told about] are usually pasta, rice, bread, potatoes...

Three months in and 2nd blood results in

Wow that's impressive ! Your Dr. is one of the enlightened ones saying to stick to the LCHF way of eating, would that other ones and Diabetic Nurses had his approach.
