Type 2 Low fat yogurt and blood sugar reading

Hi I’ve realised that low fat yogurt is the culprit (or one of them!) in my raised blood sugars. The standard question: but why?? It’s not got any flavourings, additives or sweeteners in it. I’ve now cut this out, but wonder if anyone else has this issue.

Diabetic remission, and the risk of Covid-19

Hi So, you try your hardest for 18 months to get the Type 2 in remission, and are proud of yourself. You’re then told you are “vulnerable” for Covid-19 and feel like it’s a kick in the teeth (I know it’s for my own good though). There are letters being received by people to say to “shield”...

    Type 2 HbA1c results

Hi, could you please let me know if I’m checking my blood results correctly? I’ve been LCHF for a year now (60-70g per day) and my HbA1c is now 39.9 with no meds. My cholesterol is 6.11, HDL 1.68, LDL 4.03 and triglycerides 0.88. My understanding is that cholesterol divided by HDL = sum...

    Morning blood glucose to HbA1c

I have my diabetes “managed” with diet only. I test my BG in a morning only, so I can average my morning tests but can this correlate to the HbA1c test, or do I need to test at other times if the day? I can see converters on the website, but it says “average blood glucose” so I’m not sure...

    Skin issues

I was diagnosed type 2 in May 18 and have counted carbs and reduced my HbA1c since then to 40/5.7. Is it normal to get sore, raw elbows with diabetes? Just appeared overnight on both elbows, and it’s never happened before! Thank you

    Advice please

I’m new to testing my glucose so I’m still learning how to interpret my numbers. When I wake, before eating, I’m around 4.7. Had a “carby” pasta meal, small beer and a naughty slice of ciabatta at around 16.00. Wide awake at midnight and reading was 6.1. Wide awake at 3.00 and now 6.5...

    Encouraging results

I was diagnosed type 2 in May 2018 at 48. I’ve followed low carb diet (60-80g of carbs per day) and my latest HbA1c is 40. My weight has dropped from 78.8kg to 70.2kg, and my clothes size (top and bottom) is the same as when I met my husband in 1985! I’ve just bought my first pair of size 12...

    Amazed, And Thank You!

So, I’ve had my first diabetes checkup after three months of a low carb lifestyle recommended by this forum. I knew the results were good (6.6 now 5.8) but didn’t expect the diabetes nurse to say “I wish I had more patients like you”, “excellent results”, “amazing” and “you should be aiming at...

    Results Translation Please!

Just seen my blood results on the doctors website, but haven’t yet had my catchup appointment with the nurse. This is my first results as I was diagnosed three months ago. I’m celebrating with the blood results, but unsure about the cholesterol ones. Bloods were 6.6/48.6 Now 5.8/40...

    Carb Counting Advice Please

Hi. I’ve been carb counting for the last two months (newly diagnosed type 2) and using the “carbohydrate” number on packets or found by googling. I’m aiming at 60g to 90g per day I’ve just read something that says “net carbs”, I.e. deducting the fibre figure - should I be doing this? Am...

    Moral Support Please

I was diagnosed T2D just over five weeks ago and was fortunately spotted early - 6.6. I immediately read up on LCHF diets and I’ve stuck to it for five weeks, and am actually enjoying eating fresh foods, and tasting them. One of my colleagues today said “you’ll be really disappointed if your...

Newly Diagnosed, Trying To Be Brave

Hi I was diagnosed type 2 three weeks ago, my reading is 6.6 so it was caught early. The doctor told me to lose weight (I’m 5ft 4 and 10kg overweight), read Diabetes UK and that was all the advice I received. My mum is also type 2 so it’s in the genes. Firstly, the forum has been an amazing...
