Disneyland Paris - Easy Access Pass

Hi Just considering a trip next year with my husband and two small kids - I’m reading that an easy access pass is available for type 1s at Disneyland Paris - which allows you to book slots at the attractions rather than wait in queues. Great for me (T1D) as I can have days where I get really...

Returned to the UK & 12 month wait for first appointment

Hi Looking for some advice. I recently returned to the Uk after 5 years overseas and have been trying to figure out my type 1 diabetes treatment here. I have had a blood test with the GP surgery and been referred to the hospital team since the GP don’t generally deal with all treatments...

Likelihood of getting Pump & CGM in UK

Hi My family are considering a move back to the UK later this year, we are British but have been living in the Netherlands for 5 years - during which time I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. My diabetes care here has been pretty great - we pay health insurance which isn’t cheap but my...

    Covid + Type 1 + Pregnant = Chaos

Hi all I tested positive for Covid yesterday after getting the sore throat and congestion symptoms that seem to be common with Omicron. Have since found out my daughters entire class have come down with it, and so we have our main culprit for where it came from! As type 1 this has obviously...

    Spikes in early pregnancy

I’m pregnant with my second child and dealing with random high sugar spikes at 10 weeks. For some reason my Dexcom isn’t alarming which isn’t helpful as I’ve woken up at 12/13 the last couple nights and spent hours awake checking it goes down. It starts to drop then rises again an hour later...

    Giggling Squid - Thai restaurant

Hello! I’ll be eating out at a Thai chain called giggling squid later this week and very curious about others experiences with lower carb items or managing their sugar with things from the menu. I’m type 1 and particularly trying to stay on top of my blood sugar at the moment and worried about...

    Missed nighttime Lantus dose

Hi I missed my lantus dose last night at 10pm, wasn’t sure what to do and my diabetic nurse is on holiday - another nurse told me to take half my dose now and then my normal dose again tonight as usual. This strikes me as potentially dangerous - surely I think have 1.5x the dose in my system...

Story - diagnosed Type 1 at 8 weeks pregnant

Hi! It’s been 12 months now and to mark the anniversary I wrote a piece on how I handled being diagnosed as Type 1 at 8 weeks pregnant. Hope you’ll take a read and it helps if you are in a similar (of unusual) situation. Feedback welcome...

Creeping fasting sugars - experience needed!

Hi I’m type 1 and 18 weeks pregnant - I noticed at 16 weeks my fasting sugars were starting to jump up, from 4.7 to 6.1 over a couple of days. I was taking 7 units of insulatard slow acting insulin at night at 15 weeks, and at 18 weeks I’m already creeping up again on 10 units (I adjust by 1...

Sharps Bin - on holiday in the UK

Hi I've been living in the Netherlands and am going to be back in the UK for Christmas - does anyone know if it's possible to get a sharps bin from a pharmacy? The one I have here is huge and would take up most of my suitcase so I'd rather get one in the UK once I'm back (for 10 days) and...

Type 1 Measuring sugar levels - newbie question

Hi This might seem like a bit of a stupid question, but something that I am confused about since getting a CGM. I have been told to test my blood sugar 2 hours after eating and that it should at that point be below 7mmol (I have only known being type 1 and pregnant together and so maybe I have...

Dexcom G6 - second sensor totally inaccurate day 1

I'm on day 10 of using the Dexcom G6 and this morning swapped my first sensor for a new one. Did everything the same as previously but this one is horribly inaccurate. It started by giving me false low readings (luckily I checked so I didn't correct) of 2.5 compared to 4.6 from a finger prick...
