    Pump strap and high readings

Hi, I have been using a pump for about a year, numbers have been great so far. I ercently started trapping the pump (accucheck insight, novorapid) to my belly with a lycra band, which is very comfy. However about the same period I have noticed many highs which I was not having before. I am...

    Pump newbie pressing question

Hi, I am due to get a start session with my insulin pump next week (yay!). The nurse at the hospital has given me a letter for the GP to get the necessary supplies on prescription, ready for the session. The list includes insulin cart, strips, ketosticks and lancets, but no infusion sets. It...

    Pumps and Bluetooth Safety

The pump sound like a great way forward for BG improvement, but I see the top two funded by NHS , the insight and the miniMed connect to tester by Bluetooth. I believe there is no clear data on whether This technology is safe, and keeping a Bluetooth device attached to your skin all the time...

    Quick question for pumpers

I'm starting to think about pumps as I've been recommended by the Doctor. I have some basic questions: Do you keep emergency pens in case of pump failure? If so,as these go bad after several months, this means you have to keep getting pens (on prescription?) just in case?

    Fresh pasta disaster.

I had fresh pasta today, the package said that 1/4 pack portion (125gr) was 31,6gr carb, which is odd as 125gr of pasta is a large portion. I injected accordingly and ended 17.5 at 3h! Any ideas on why the labelling indicates so few carbs ?

    Nutritional info on restaurants

Well, I say "restaurants"... So I went to KFC and asked if they had nutritional info, the girl serving looked at me like I was speaking Ancient Greek. I just ordered and was quite annoyed, when I finished I realised the info was printed in the back of the placing mats. As I was leaving the place...

    Silly food labelling rant

I hate how useless is food labelling sometimes. Take this pizza base: it tells the carbs "oven cooked" instead of raw, when am I supposed to weight it?, after cooked when I've already put all the toppings? >: ( I can't even figure it out from the net weight of the package because presumably it...

Fight the spike vs avoid spikey food

I am a T1 since 3yrs. I read on the forum often people talking about how a certain food spike their blood sugar so they decide to avoid it. I thought spikes were avoided by timing the bolus correctly and with the right ratio, aren't they? Or do some foods spike BG more than their theoretical...

    Raw potato question

Hi, I just had some mashed potato, I tend to look at picture books to guess the carb content but it's really quite annoying how some foods nutrition values are always given "cooked", it's much easier if i'm cooking to weight the raw potato rather than cooked, which will depend hugely on how...

    Split doses Novorapid

HI, I am a type 1, have been for about 2 years. (novorapid / lantus ) I test quite a lot and have had very good results with split doses of novorapid , to the point where i had nailed down precise ratios for rice, pasta, even pizza. Sometimes the amounts of insulin change slightly, but the...

Hello from an underweight type 1

Hello All, I am new here, I have been reading the forum from the sideline, always wanting to get involved. I think the time has come for me to do so. Not sure how many people share my experience of diagnose, i'll be happy to find out: I am a very thin/lightweight male, mid thirties. When I say...
