    Protein Problem

My FBGs, in fact most of my readings have been unusually high over the past few days. My carb intake has remained low (at between 20 and 30g and as low as 5g on a couple of days) but my protein intake has been much higher. I think I read somewhere that some of us are more sensitive to protein...

    A tous les riverains francais.....

Is anyone out there living and receiving diabetes care in France? I lived in Brittany for 7 years and am thinking about moving back when I graduate (this time next year). One of the things I need to do to be prepared (apart from campaign against Brexit!!) is find out how the French med system...

Cholesterol: GP discussion and my decision....

Just been to see the doctor about my raised cholesterol levels. Strange thing is that, although he agreed that cholesterol might not actually be as dangerous as we once thought, in his opinion my cholesterol levels are 'dangerously high'. He's referred to me a specialist dietician, which I'm...

    Diabetic Review

Apparently, if my next HbA1c (due in January 2020) is at a similar level to the one I had last week (36), then I will officially be in remission..... LCHF is a miracle worker and I am so very grateful to all you kind hearts that pointed me in it's direction when I was first diagnosed and joined...

    The Dreaded Cholesterol....

    Low Carb Program

What's everyone else's experience of the low carb program? I joined because I enjoy eating low carb but, because it's a relatively new way of eating for me I find I need some help keeping my nosh interesting (and tasty enough for my daughter to want to eat with me). I'd be interested to learn...

    Unusually high readings...

Just after a bit of reassurance. My BG readings over the last couple of days have been higher than usual. I've not changed the way I eat (apart from a bit of liver, which seems to be when it started). My daily carb intake has been below 20g, all from vegetables and no bad stuff and yet my...

    Better than Expected Review

I was very nervous but needn't have been. Apparently my results are astonishing (how did I do it, she asked. LCHF, I told her). I did ask for a full cholesterol and lipid test, which I'm having next week just to be on the safe side but she said I can stop taking metformin! She also asked if...

    Nervous....

I suppose, as time goes by and I get used to having T2, I will be less nervous about the prospect of diabetic reviews. I have my first scheduled at 4pm and I have butterflies! I hope they don't take my blood pressure!!

    Worried about cholesterol

Morning all. I'm a bit worried about my current cholesterol levels (9.1 and increased from 7.5 since diagnosis and embarking on LCHF diet). I want to get this under control asap and would like to avoid statins if possible. My questions are: 1). Is it normal for cholesterol to rise like this...

Just been to see the DN...

Thanks to LCHF, I've lost 14 kilos since December 2018! That's 2 stone 2 lbs in old money. Pretty chuffed with that; just hoping the blood test results will show similar reductions.... will find out next week! :)

    Sweeteners

Having discovered the delights of coffee with double cream, I should now like some recommendations re sweeteners. What does everyone use and does my sweetener of choice (Truvia) raise blood sugar? My levels seem to have crept up a bit and looking back on my food diary, this seems to coincide...

    Stressful day...

Had my Desmond training day today. It was fine - informative, nice people running it, supportive of LCHF and keto. They made the whole day rather fun actually and I enjoyed it.... but right now I am feeling so stressed, probably because they gave us all our latest blood results. Mine were...
