Novopen echo plus/Novopen 6 in the UK

Just to update, apparently the new pens are available in selected CCGs but they weren't able to tell me when they expect to be widely available in the UK.

Novopen echo plus/Novopen 6 in the UK

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone in the UK has already been given a Novopen echo plus or Novopen 6? I know they were first annnounced years ago, and then released and recalled in some countries last year. Google isn't being very helpful, has anyone seen them available here yet? Thanks!

Libre 2 Problems scanning with a Samsung phone

Hi, possibly check if you have any other apps or features which might be trying to use nfc as I think was suggested above. I have Samsungs and two different models have worked fine with the official app eventhough neither were on the official approved list. I have seen many posts about the app...

    Libre 2 and sunshine

Hi, The sensor might just be wrong, bit the libre 2 box says their temperature range is between 4 and 25 degrees C. If you've had it in direct heat above that, I wonder if that has caused damage to the workings? Mine is more under my arm so I've never been concerned about it overheating, so...

Freestyle libre 2 issue after issue

I had this a few months ago but luckily not until day 13 of the sensor's life. Abbott replaced it still, though I always try to have 2 sensors in because Abbott took almost 3 weeks for the new sensor to arrive. Only had 2 sensors fail in almost 3 years using libre luckily.

How does your diabetes care compare?

I too much prefer the phone/video consultations!! I always have to get my bloods done by the GP anyway, but avoided a drive and the usual wait at the clinic for the past two consultations (they're always running late in person). I've got the libre so they have access to all my data and other...

    Carb counting

Hi, most packets are good at telling you the total carbs, but supermarket websites or Google might help if you haven't got the packet. I've got used to checking what is listed before serving anything. Often they say 'per item' or 'per serving' so eg it might have been listed on the tin as...

Problem removing sticky residue after removing freestyle libre2

Hi, I find a soak in the bath helps, or just gradually remove more with soap and water when I have a shower, usually takes no more than 2 days and as Antje says it doesn't bother me unless I'm planning on wearing a short sleeve top. I have used alcohol wipes before and again found it easy once...

EEK why is it always weekends when things go wrong

They need to realise you're not asking for a spare now, your only pen is not working, so it is necessary to ask for a replacement. Definitely good to have to disposables as a back up, but you're entitled to working equipment to administer your insulin. I'd never take only one insulin as I don't...

EEK why is it always weekends when things go wrong

Hi, are your insulin pens the same for long and short acting cartirdges? It really isn't advised, but in an emergency I have swapped cartridges when a pen broke for me. I usually use the cartridges in a reusable pen, because it will do half units. I then have one box of disposable cartridges in...

    Bad Libre sensors

Agreed, I've only had two needing to be replaced but Abbott have always done so, and I've been getting them prescribed the whole time. I've also not actually sent back the two sensors (first failed while shielding last year and I couldn't get to a post box) but Abbott never complained. I know...

    Freestyle Libre2

For those getting signal loss - if you have a libre 2 I find the Diabox app far more consistent in staying connected to the sensor than the libre link app. Haven't tried connecting to the reader so can't comment on that. I still need to activate sensors with the official Abbot app, but have...

    Got Libra 2 on prescription

Great news! That is how I got it too, but a bit frustrating at first for me as I had a clinic where I had been doing 6/7 tests a day, not realising what the thresholds were. Consultant was helpful and advised to up it to over 8 tests a day before my next clinic. Next clinic kept getting delayed...

    Freestyle Libre 2

Agreed, I've had a 2 sensors fail over the 2 1/2 years I've been using Libre 1 and 2 and both times they've sent me replacements without any issues. I log that it has failed and get an automated email within a few days which asks for details (sensor no, where I got it, software I'm using on the...

Taking the 2nd AstraZeneca Jab ???

Hi, I was told that as I did not have any blood clot reaction symptoms after the first it was OK to proceed and have the second. I had really high bloods after the first needing about 4 times my usual total insulin dose for about 1 week. I had no side effects after the second at all, barely even...

    Covid vaccine

Hi, yes I had my second one a few weeks ago and had absolutely no side effects. Also had a fairly bad set of side effects after the first one (most only for about 48hrs, increased insulin requirements for about a week). So far noticed nothing after my second vaccine, roughly 3 weeks ago so I...

    Lancet needles

Going to be the odd one out but I change it every time, other than in very rare occasions when I can't or forget. I find it hurts when I reuse a lancet or needle so am in the habit of changing both every single time!

    Help again

Hi, completely agree with others - I have chosen to keep my lancing device and lancets from an old meter as I liked the size of the device and found those lancets the least painful to use and it has worked without issue with 3 different meter brands. I'd also suggest if you're happy with the...

I never recongnize my hypos when I’m volunteering? Don’t known why?

Hi, I'd agree with others and see if there was a system where you can leave something at the enclosure gate, so you're not actually taking it in with you, but also dont have a 5-10 min walk to access it. If you're 2.3 I wouldn't want to be walking 5 mins to be able to get hypo treatment. It...
