How did you decide to come off meds?

Hi, At the end of April I got my diagnosis of T2 with a fasting blood sugar of 14.22 and HbA1C of 97. I was put on Metformin and Xigduo XR. As of 7th August my HbA1C is down to 43.2 (6.1%) which I understand is still int he pre-diabetes range? This has come I guess mainly due to the Low Carb...

T2 - am I correct these are my two options?

Hi, I'm newly diagnosed T2 and constantly confused over what I can and can't eat etc. My other half had a mini stroke a few months back and has hypertension so this confuses us even more about who can eat what. I've always feared diabetes as I have a sweet tooth and a fear of needles, but...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Last week I "discovered" ostrich fillets in my local supermarket. Delicious, tasty (like a decent steak), tender and I believe healthy and about half the price of an average steak! Best of all, blood sugar drops after eating them!:woot: Ostrich and scrambled eggs for breakfast this morning...

    New diagnosis

Apparently not, without exercise but exactly the same food (same batch and portion), the rise the day before and the day after were 0.72 and 0.94, seems the exercise was the main factor. I even had fairly similar sleep. Having done some reading, my understanding is that high intensity workouts...

What have you eaten today? (Low carb forum)

Bircher Meusli, made with 2 small grated apples, 80g of walnut/cashew/almond smashed up, 4 bug spoons of greek yoghurt, 80g of oats and milk to fill up the tub. This gives me enough for 4 days (3 if hungry :) ) Ramadan has started yesterday and I live in the middle east so most people around...

    New diagnosis

Morning all, I would say good morning, but for it to be a good morning I would still be in bed ;) So I'm still getting to grips with my food, testing before and 2 hours after pretty much everything, fingertips looking like a pin cushion. This morning I had the same home made bircher muesli...

    LCHF with hypertension

That's kinda the question to be honest. How have people with hypertension coped. Of course she is pushed onto a low fat, low cal, low salt diet by the doctors so getting her head around LCHF will be even harder than it is for me. Nice to see others doing so well with it, maybe once I've shed...

    LCHF with hypertension

Hi, So I was diagnosed with T2 this week and I'm still wrapping my poor addled brain around the fact that every "healthy" thing I like will kill me, but the "unhealthy" stuff will save me. I'm both delighted and confused, but getting there. 2 months ago, my other half had a TIA (mini stroke)...

    New diagnosis

    New diagnosis

It's kind of sinking in, slowly. My brain hurts :banghead:when thinking about eating full fat, especially when trying to lower cholesterol and my weight. just got to get the sugars and carbs out of my habits. The Salmon wrap I had earlier reduced my readings to 166 (9.22).

    New diagnosis

206 fasting, up to 253 2 hours after breakfast. That's 11.44 mmol up to 14. I know the numbers are both way too high, but is that kind of increase within a normal range?

    New diagnosis

Thanks all for your feedback, with regards food, there is soo much information :bookworm:for both Diabetes, Cholesterol and BP (I need to keep an eye on that too), much of it conflicting. Also as mentioned above what works for one does work for another which makes it hard to choose which...

Cheers guys, I should point out I was joking about the lettuce, though at times over the last few days of researching it has felt like it. I'm seriously considering not taking the Crestor and seeing how my cholesterol develops with a change in diet and some exercise. My understanding of...
