    Annual Diabetes Check

Lucky one here - Well organised annual check by diabetic nurse at GP Clinic in July. Blood - Hba1c - Urine - Weight - Feet. Only one person allowed in surgery at a time. Still waiting for annual eye check at the local clinic (Only five months overdue) which is understandable though.

    Appointments during Covid-19

Had a phone call from my surgery three weeks ago for routine diabetic check up. Appointment was made quickly two weeks ago. Had to ring the surgery from outside on arrival. Two minutes later a receptionist came out in full PPE. I had to wear a face-mask and not touch anything walking in...

    GLUCOMEN AREO

I must be lucky as I have been using this one for about 9 months and I have only suffered an error code about three/four times unril quite recently when I dropped it. Rang the number in the booklet and they were very helpful sending a replacement at no cost. It may be worth giving them a call...

    staff shortage

The PIP guidelines do not state what constitutes a disability/ Anyone with a long term health condition can apply for PIP,including a person with T1 or T2 diabetes. PIP is not about what health conditions that you have, but is about how they affect your life. You have to prove this by meeting...

    Tentative question... HbA1c 81

Take it slowly and you will get back on the horses. Think Marathon - Not Sprint. Ask them about the cardiac rehab course. They should refer you on one. I did it for 6 weeks - It really helps get your heart fitter and also helps you adapt and come to accept what has happened. I got some...

    Tentative question... HbA1c 81

If it helps you, I had a heart attack in May last year and a stent fitted in a blocked artery. Whilst in hospital diabetes was diagnosed with Hba1c of 108. I was put on Rampril, bisoprolol, Ticarelor and Antorverstatins. I was also put on mixed insulin twice a day as the Consultant is adamant...

Beta blockers and high blood sugar

I am also taking 5mg of Bisprolol a day and it dosn't seem to affect my blood sugar levels. It does keep my heartrate around 70 bpm although it does cause very cold hands and feet sometimes in the winter. weight is staying steady and is a good BMI. I guess its a necessity in my case.

Low mood, feeling like a failure and wanting to self harm again

Hi @Catherine4188 You really sound like to are having a rough time of it. Please try to focus on the main positive, which is your wonderful son. Above all else, you have something special to focus on. It may look bleak now, but gradually other things will improve in time.

7 weeks post T2D diagnosis and struggling

It's really early days for you and you seem to be doing really well so far. We all have periods where we miss the old days and could murder that lump of chocolate cake, but it takes time to accept that it is no longer available to you. As time goes by, each day will get easier. It's just...
