Type 2 Dapagliftlozin and weight gain

I have been on the above for around 10 months or so to be taken with my metformin and I have gained 7 pounds in weight. Nothing in my life has changed except for being on this medication. I know that weight gain is a possible side effect and the only way I would be able to know for sure is to...

Which Is The Cheapest Lancets And Strips?

I used to test four times a day, twice weekly as advised by my first diabetic nurse. Stuff ordered now so I soon start to regain control. I cannot believe that the NHS has decided type 2 do not need to monitor their levels. It has to be purely for a cost cutting reason, which they will never...

So, those who use their lancets more than once, how many times on average do you use them before using a new one. They must eventually lose their sharpness.

Which Is The Cheapest Lancets And Strips?

I have decided after having my repeat prescription for lancets and test strips cancelled whilst being told that I don't need to test as type 2 sufferers never, ever have a hypo, that I need to start testing again as I have no idea of how well / bad I am doing. My latest review was bad. I am not...

    Hypos On Metformin?

My hypos are mostly real. I know all about false hypos. I argued with my diabetic nurse when she informed me they were removing my ability to monitor my levels but she just quoted the new policy introduced purely to save money.

    Hypos On Metformin?

I was diagnosed as type 2 and put on metformin back in 2000. I have had loads of hypos since then whilst on Metformin. I still get them despite my new diabetic nurse telling me that it is impossible for anyone on metformin to have hypos. She also took away my prescription for needles and strips...

    Metformin

I started on half a tablet, gradually building up to the correct dose.

    Metformin

Did you start the metformin gradually and build up the dose to try and avoid stomach problems? That is the correct way to start metformin. Most people then adjust to it and have little problems but some don't. and need to try the slow release version.

    Metformin and muscle cramps

I had the usual muscle pain and memory issues on statins until I refused to take them anymore. Never had problems with Metformin unless I take them without food.

    metformin action/timings questions

Everyone is different though, so maybe some people are affected that way. I was warned that taking metformin could make me put weight on by my diabetic nurse.

    metformin action/timings questions

I have been on metformin since 2000 and I have seen no evidence to suggest it decreases my appetite.

Been told to stop testing blood sugar

Another thing she does that annoys me is that she is using a way of showing what my sugar levels are by a method I know nothing about. I am used to being told, 7.4, 8.3 etc, but she is using some other method and it means nothing to me so I have no idea how bad I am. I did tell her that it means...

Been told to stop testing blood sugar

I will have a disagreement with her the next time I see her. I have a supply of needles and strips that will last me a couple of months, so no hurry.

Been told to stop testing blood sugar

Is this normal practice these days? I suspect it is a way for the practice to save money. I recently had a full diabetic check-up and was told my diabetic nurse that I should stop testing my blood sugar as I am not at risk of a hypo because I am on metformin. How the hell am I supposed to know...

    metformin. can't do it anymore

I was also told by my diabetic nurse that 4 x metformin (500mg) is the absolute max. You can take other medication that does a similar job alongside metformin though.
